USA – Flight simulator manufacturer Flytpath Aviation has mounted the fully enclosed, two-seat cockpit of its Cirrus SR2X-focused FP7+ simulator onto the device's full-motion platform and started motion and structural integration testing. The milestone moves the first FP7+ closer to its planned deployment at Mike Goulian Aviation in Bedford, Massachusetts, adding a new full-motion, mixed-reality training platform to a Cirrus-focused training operation that currently lists two G6 simulators across its Bedford and Plymouth locations.
- The FP7+ uses a six-degree-of-freedom motion platform covering pitch, roll, yaw, surge, sway and heave; Flytpath said the latest development marks the first time the enclosed two-seat cockpit has been mounted on the complete motion system for integrated motion and structural testing.
- The unit remains in a pre-finish configuration, with painting and final finishing work still to follow, according to Flytpath
- The FP7+ is being developed for the Cirrus SR Series, with Flytpath's current product material specifically positioning the initial configuration around the Cirrus G7+ platform. The manufacturer lists Cirrus Training Centers, Part 61 and Part 141 flight schools, university programmes and advanced training providers among its intended users.
- Flytpath is integrating Varjo mixed-reality technology into the simulator.
- Mike Goulian Aviation is identified by Flytpath as the launch location for the first FP7+, with deployment planned at the training provider's Hanscom Field facility in Bedford, Massachusetts. Mike Goulian Aviation operates as a Platinum Cirrus Training Center and also has a second training location at Plymouth Airport.
- Mike Goulian Aviation currently lists 15 Cirrus aircraft across its two locations: six G6 SR20s and six G6 SR22s at Hanscom Field, plus two G6 SR20s and one G6 SR22 at Plymouth. It also lists one Cirrus G6 simulator at each location and one two-seat Super Decathlon at Plymouth.
