Vertex Solutions Demonstrates F-16 Mixed-Reality Trainer to ANA in Orlando

Florida, USA – Extended-reality training technology provider Vertex Solutions has hosted representatives from Japanese airline All Nippon Airways (ANA) at its new Orlando headquarters, where it demonstrated an F-16 mixed-reality flight simulator and another immersive training system.

• Vertex’s MXR F-16 device combines a physical cockpit with a head-mounted visual environment, force-feedback controls and modelled avionics. Its training functions include emergency procedures, instrument flying, mission checkrides and basic air-to-air and air-to-ground employment.
• The F-16 trainer uses an open software architecture and supports single- and two-seat configurations. Vertex states that approximately 80% of its hardware is shared with previously fielded training systems, supporting configuration changes and sustainment across multiple aircraft applications.
• Vertex reports that more than 400 of its virtual- and mixed-reality devices are in use across US Department of Defense and commercial pilot-training programmes.
• ANA representatives subsequently hosted the Vertex team at a facility used by the airline at Orlando Sanford International Airport.
