Vietjet Finalises Order for 100 Airbus A321neo Aircraft

30th Oct 2025

Vietnam – Vietjet, Vietnam’s largest private airline, has finalized its firm order for 100 Airbus A321neo aircraft, converting a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed in June 2025 into a confirmed purchase agreement. The deal reinforces Vietjet’s position as one of the largest A321neo operators globally and marks a significant step in its long-term fleet expansion and sustainability strategy.

  • The newly signed contract brings Vietjet’s total A321neo orders to 280 aircraft, making it one of the largest single-aisle backlogs in Southeast Asia.

  • The agreement follows Vietjet’s May 2025 order for 20 Airbus A330neo widebody jets, further deepening the airline’s strategic partnership with Airbus across both narrowbody and widebody segments.

  • The A321neo, the largest variant of the Airbus A320neo Family, delivers over 20% fuel efficiency improvements and 50% noise reduction compared to previous generation aircraft.

  • The aircraft also supports Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) blending of up to 50%, with full 100% SAF capability targeted by 2030, aligning with Vietjet’s environmental and operational sustainability commitments.

Statements

  • Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao, Vietjet’s Chairwoman, described the order as “not merely a commercial contract, but a symbol of trust, aspiration, and a shared vision for sustainable development and global connectivity.”

  • Benoît de Saint-Exupéry, Airbus Executive Vice President of Sales for Commercial Aircraft, added: “The A321neo’s proven efficiency and flexibility make it the ideal platform to support Vietjet’s ambitious expansion. Combined with the A330neo, this fleet will deliver the best economics and seamless commonality across operations.”
