Vietnam – Victoria Aviation Academy Joint Stock Company (VIAA) has received an Approved Training Organisation (ATO) certificate from the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam (CAAV), following its restructuring into a separate legal entity. The certification formalises the academy's new corporate structure as it expands its training services for Vietjet Group and external aviation customers.
- The certificate was presented on October 6, 2026, following the restructuring and consolidation of the former Vietjet Aviation Academy into Victoria Aviation Academy Joint Stock Company, transitioning from an internal airline training unit to a separately incorporated training organisation.
- The predecessor academy previously received CAAV Level 3 ATO approval in 2015 and Level 2 approval in 2021, including authorisation for simulator-based type rating and ATPL theoretical training.
- Ho Ngoc Yen Phuong, Vice Chairwoman of Vietjet's Board of Directors and Chairwoman of VIAA, confirmed that the academy is now positioned as the designated training organisation for the entire Vietjet Group. The academy also plans to expand its services to airlines and aviation organisations in Vietnam and international markets.
- VIAA plans further investment in training infrastructure, simulation equipment and instructor development. CAAV Deputy Director General Ho Minh Tan acknowledged the academy's investment in training facilities, equipment and quality-control systems, while VIAA CEO Dr. Tran Huu Quoc outlined plans to strengthen regulatory compliance and instructor capabilities.
- The academy will also support the development of aircraft maintenance technicians for Vietjet's planned maintenance and engineering centre at Long Thanh International Airport. Vietjet commenced construction of the facility in August 2025, with two hangars designed to accommodate maintenance on up to 10 aircraft simultaneously.
- AFM previously reported that VIAA assumed full operational responsibility for its Airbus A320 simulator infrastructure in December 2025 and began offering simulator capacity to external training customers in January 2026, supporting the academy's expansion beyond Vietjet's internal training requirements.
- VIAA's simulator infrastructure comprises three CAE 7000XR Airbus A320ceo/neo Level D Full Flight Simulators and one CAE 400XR Airbus Procedures Trainer. The academy also maintains aircraft maintenance training workshops, cabin crew training equipment and dedicated technical training facilities.
