Vietnam Airlines Signs MoU for Five Airbus A350-900s for 2033–2034 Delivery

Vietnam – Vietnamese flag carrier Vietnam Airlines has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Airbus covering the proposed acquisition of five A350-900 aircraft, with deliveries planned for 2033–2034.

• The five-aircraft agreement forms part of a wider Vietnam Airlines fleet strategy that identifies the acquisition of 30 widebody aircraft after 2030 as a priority. The airline said the larger program will require aircraft selection, financing, manufacturer negotiations, delivery planning, crew training and maintenance preparation over several years.
• Vietnam Airlines currently operates 14 A350-900s and introduced the type into commercial service in 2015, becoming the second airline globally to operate the A350. The airline said adding further aircraft of the same type would provide commonality across flight operations, crew training, engineering and maintenance.
• AFM previously reported that Vietnam Airlines extended its cooperation with CAE for operation of its A350 full-flight simulator through the end of 2033.
• Vietnam Airlines operates a fleet of 81 aircraft comprised of 67 A320/A321-family aircraft and 14 A350s.
