Vietnam's Government Invites CAE to Explore Regional Aviation Training and Simulation Hub

Vietnam & Canada – Vietnam's Government has invited aviation training and simulation provider CAE to study expanding the country into a regional aviation training and simulation location serving domestic operators and customers across Southeast Asia. The proposal was discussed during a September 25, 2026 meeting in Canada between General Secretary and President To Lam and CAE President, Civil Aviation Alexandre Prévost.

• Vietnam's leadership asked CAE to examine a broader training platform beyond individual airline, simulator and course-level cooperation, with the objective of developing internationally aligned training, simulation and aviation safety capabilities that could eventually serve both the Vietnamese market and regional customers.
• The proposed scope covers pilot, cabin crew, aircraft maintenance technician and air traffic controller training. CAE also identified potential expansion in simulation capacity, digital learning and aviation safety through phased partnerships in Vietnam.
• The Vietnamese government linked the proposal to continued growth in the country's aircraft fleet, airport infrastructure and demand for aviation services, stating that workforce development, training capacity and safety systems would need to develop alongside that expansion.
• A further objective is to establish a technology-transfer and capability-development roadmap with Vietnamese partners. The government specifically identified simulator capability, operational risk management, aviation safety and air traffic controller training as areas where CAE could share technology and operational experience.
• Vietnamese agencies and aviation organisations are expected to facilitate connections between CAE and airlines, aviation training organisations, air navigation service organisations and other relevant partners. The government said it would also continue aligning national training and management standards with international practice.
• CAE already has an established training presence in Vietnam - the CAE Vietnam Training Centre in Ho Chi Minh City which operates full-flight simulator capability supporting Airbus A320, Airbus A350 and Boeing 787 training.
