Vietravel Airlines Plans 50-Aircraft Airbus Fleet Expansion from 2029

September 14, 2026

Vietnam – Vietnamese airline Vietravel Airlines, part of T&T Group, has signed an agreement with Airbus covering 50 new aircraft comprising 20 A220s and 30 A321-family aircraft, with deliveries expected to begin in 2029.

  • The agreement follows a wider fleet expansion under T&T Group. On June 24, 2026, the airline introduced another owned Airbus A321, registration VN-A290, and T&T stated that Vietravel Airlines planned to add a further seven aircraft during the second half of 2026.
  • Vietravel Airlines is already recruiting flight crew alongside the expansion. Its current careers portal lists openings for Captains, First Officers and First Officers with command potential through December 31, 2026, while its Training Center is also recruiting a Training Quality Assurance Executive.
  • AFM previously reported that Flight Training Alliance, the CAE and Lufthansa Aviation Training joint venture and Airbus Authorized Training Provider for the A220, will deploy a CAE 7000XR A220 Full Flight Simulator at Airbus Asia Training Centre in Singapore in 2027. The installation will establish dedicated A220 training capacity in Asia-Pacific before Vietravel Airlines' planned entry into the aircraft type.
