Global – Flight simulation equipment manufacturer Virtual Fly Simulators has introduced the SOLO PRO DA42, a single-seat training device developed around the systems, avionics and handling characteristics of the Diamond DA42 Twin Star.
- The SOLO PRO DA42 incorporates a 225-degree horizontal visual system using three 55-inch 4K displays and is built on Virtual Fly’s existing SOLO PRO platform.
- The cockpit configuration includes a simulated Garmin G1000 NXi avionics suite, GFC 700 autopilot, MD302 standby instrument, retractable landing gear controls and a centre control stick designed around the DA42 layout.
- Virtual Fly has reproduced the operating workflow of the aircraft’s two Austro AE300 engines, including independent FADEC-controlled power levers, automatic constant-speed propeller management and the absence of separate propeller and mixture controls.
- The FS-FlightControl instructor station supports changes to position, weather and time, alongside remotely initiated engine-out scenarios and ECU, landing gear and avionics failures. The device uses X-Plane 12 as its simulation host.
- The manufacturer is positioning the SOLO PRO DA42 for FAA Advanced Aviation Training Device qualification. Virtual Fly’s preliminary product documentation states that certification remains subject to FAA evaluation of the final configuration and the issuance of a Letter of Authorization.
- The preliminary configuration includes an adjustable single pilot seat, Virtual Fly RUDDO+ pedals, a 36-month warranty and an optional enclosed cabin.
- AFM previously reported that Virtual Fly delivered three SOLO PRO SEMINOLE AATDs to Infinity Flight Group in June 2026, increasing the US flight school’s Virtual Fly device fleet to 15 units.
