Aeroclub Barcelona Sabadell Brings the First Electric Aircraft to Spain
The Aeroclub Barcelona-Sabadell and its ATO (Authorized Training Organisation), Barcelona Flight School, one of the aeronautical training centres of international reference with 70 years of experience in the sector, has incorporated into its fleet the first aircraft with electric propulsion, following the project of this entity to renew its training aircraft for electric planes.
This is the Velis Electro model, the world’s first electric aircraft certified by the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA), from the Slovenian manufacturer Pipistrel, a two-seater, 100% electric aircraft, mainly intended for initial pilot training. Its arrival on the market represents a real revolution for aeroclubs and flying schools in the context of their environmental transition and a very exciting future prospect for the world of aviation in general.
With the aim of eliminating the use of fossil fuels in a society moving towards renewable energies, the Aeroclub Barcelona-Sabadell and its school, the Barcelona Flight School, is committed to significantly reducing noise pollution and carbon emissions, using electric aviation for a new era in general aviation and thus becoming the first Spanish commercial and private pilot training school to use renewable energies in its fleet.
The Aeroclub Barcelona-Sabadell aims to lead, in this way, a sustainable and respectful aviation with the environment and its surroundings.
