Airbus to Deploy H160/H175 Full Flight Simulator to Brazil – RFT by 2028

30th Apr 2025

Brazil – Airbus Helicopters has announced plans to introduce H160/H175 full flight simulators (FFS) in Brazil by 2028, aiming to strengthen training capacity for the growing Latin American energy sector and enhance aviation safety.

  • Airbus will provide full flight H160/H175 simulators with Level D certification, the highest level of simulator qualification, validated by Brazil’s civil aviation authority (ANAC).

  • The simulators will feature the latest Helionix avionics suite, ensuring cockpit consistency with operational aircraft and including OEM data packages to deliver maximum training realism.

  • Airbus’ investment reflects a strategy to bring training closer to customers, directly supporting pilot readiness, operational safety, and regional growth in the energy sector.

  • Brazil’s existing Airbus Helicopters Simulation Academy, operational since 2015 in Rio de Janeiro, has delivered almost 7,500 simulation hours to nearly 600 students to date.

  • Regional demand for medium helicopters in the energy sector is projected to surpass 40 units over the next decade, representing a doubling of the current medium helicopter fleet.

  • Separately, the first H160 Full Flight Simulator for North America is scheduled to become operational in 2026 in Grand Prairie, Texas, with Airbus also evaluating future deployments in Asia and Australia.

Statements:

  • “Our customers spoke and we listened. We are extremely proud to reinforce our commitment to the Latin America region with the planned introduction of these full flight H160/H175 simulators, providing our customers with enhanced training capabilities closer to home.”

  • “By staying close to our customers, we are not only supporting their operational needs and helping boost their growth trajectories, but also strengthening aviation safety across the region.”
