Asia – Airbus has released its latest Global Services Forecast (GSF), projecting the Asia-Pacific aviation services market to reach a cumulative value of US$138.7 billion by 2044, driven by surging air traffic, sustained fleet expansion, and a rapid shift towards digitalisation and Competency-Based Training and Assessment (CBTA). The report identifies training as a strategic pillar within the evolving services landscape, forecasting significant demand for new pilots, technicians, and cabin crew across the region.

  • Asia-Pacific is forecast to require 19,560 new passenger aircraft by 2044, representing 46% of global demand during the period.

  • Aviation services demand in the region is set to grow at a 5.2% CAGR, outpacing global averages, with training services expected to more than double from US$3.2 billion in 2025 to US$7.7 billion in 2044.

  • Airbus projects a need for 1.06 million new aviation professionals by 2044:

    • 282,000 pilots

    • 302,000 technicians

    • 473,000 cabin crew

  • The transition to CBTA is accelerating in the region, reshaping airline and training organisation curricula to focus on decision-making, leadership, and real-world operational competencies.

  • Growth in services demand is increasingly being driven by South Asia and China, positioning Asia-Pacific as the world’s primary hub for aviation services development over the next two decades.
