Australian Aviation Training Organization, Aviation Australia, has partnered with White Star Aviation and Torres Strait Air to provide a Cadet Pilot Program

Successful applicants complete their training with White Star Aviation in Ballina before commencing their career with an 18-month contract with Torres Strait Air on Horn Island.

Torres Strait Air is a locally owned air charter company serving the vital air transport needs of the Torres Strait community.

Students in year 10 can apply for entry into the 2022 cadet pilot program where they will complete the Certificate III in Aviation (Ground Operations and Support) during year 11 and 12 and then Diploma of Aviation (CPL – Aeroplane) and AVI50519 Diploma of Aviation (Instrument Rating) after completion of year 12.

This unique cadet program sees students completing the last module of training for their CPL on Horn Island in Torres Strait Air’s Cessna 206 aircraft.

The Instrument Rating is completed in one of Torres Strait Air’s, 10 seat Britten-Norman Islander aircraft.

The Double Diploma courses are completed over an 18 month period after which the Cadet Pilot’s are employed by Torres Strait Air for a minimum of 18 months based on Horn Island.
