Australia’s RMIT University Appoints New Senior Manager for Aviation Academy in 2025

13th Aug 2025

Australia – RMIT University has announced the appointment of Justin Brownjohn as the Senior Manager of its Aviation Academy, a newly created role that coincides with a strategic rebranding of the university’s aviation training division

  • Brownjohn, who has contributed significantly to scaling and stabilising operations, will now focus on strategic execution, operational maturity, and ensuring the academy remains globally respected and aligned with industry needs.

  • The academy’s renewed mission includes delivering student-centric training rooted in international standards, aimed at preparing the next generation of aviation professionals.

Earlier this month AFM reported that RMIT STEM College Aviation Academy had significantly expanded its training capacity through a partnership with Western Australian operator Airflite Pty Ltd, leasing four additional Garmin G1000‑equipped Cessna 172 aircraft. This addition strengthens resilience during weather disruptions and supports RMIT’s growth in instructor team. The new aircraft bring the operational fleet to 28 aircraft, reinforcing RMIT’s position as Australia’s largest university-operated aviation training organisation.
