E-Flight Academy Offers E-Conversion Program for Pilot Who Want to Learn How to Fly Electric
In a step towards sustainable aviation, the Dutch island of Texel has the first to be the first island in the world to conduct electric flying training flights. From July to August, E-Flight Academy will be active on the island with one of its 100% electric aircraft.
The choice of Texel as the unique location for this pilot is twofold. First of all, Texel attaches great importance to sustainability. In addition, E-Flight Academy sees island groups as extremely suitable for electric flying, partly because of the range of future aircraft.
During the months of July and August, locals and tourists have the unique opportunity to follow a trial lesson for €265. This trial lesson , of approximately 40 minutes, offers participants a full experience of flying an electric aircraft. After arrival at Texel Airport, the participants receive a briefing and explanation about the aircraft and the technology behind it. They learn about the flight characteristics and controls, taxi to the runway and then take to the skies over the island for 35 to 40 minutes. The flying lesson, including debriefing, lasts a total of two hours. If people are enthusiastic about the trial lesson, they can immediately continue the lesson program on the island.
In addition to the trial lessons, E-Flight Academy also offers an E-Conversion program for existing pilots who want to learn how to fly electrically. This program consists of five lessons and is also offered on Texel.
The collaboration between E-Flight Academy and Texel Airport bodes well for the future of sustainable aviation. With this step, both parties want to introduce all actors on and around the airport to quiet and clean flying. This development marks an important step towards a more sustainable aviation sector.
