The KLM Flight Academy and the Hanze University of Applied Sciences Groningen formally perpetuated their long-standing collaboration. During this festive moment, both parties signed a renewed cooperation agreement. This means that the Airline Pilot & Management major, the combination of Industrial Engineering and Management and the training to become a commercial pilot at the KLM Flight Academy, is also well secured for the future.

Unique opportunity

Bart de Vries, director of KLM Flight Academy: ‘Thanks to the collaboration between the two educational institutions, we offer our students a unique opportunity; By following the combined programme, the student will be in possession of a pilot’s license and a Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Engineering and Management upon completion. Once employed as a commercial pilot, this offers a broad basis for other functions, such as a role in the management of training courses or pilots.’

Airline Pilot and Management

KLM Flight Academy and the Hanze University of Applied Sciences have been offering the combination of Business Administration and Business Administration training at KLM for a number of years now. Legislative changes made it necessary to formally reconfirm the cooperation through a revised agreement. After registration at the Hanze University of Applied Sciences and having successfully completed the selection process at the KLM Flight Academy, students can then start the flight training in Eelde halfway through the second academic year. After obtaining the pilot’s license, students will graduate from the Hanze University of Applied Sciences. For example, the student has a Bachelor of Science and a pilot’s license.

Looking for future pilots!

After a few difficult years due to corona, the aviation recovery is strong: KLM has already hired dozens of graduates of the KLM Flight Academy this year. KLM is expected to hire several hundred new pilots over the next 4 to 5 years, so graduates from its own flight school have a positive outlook. After registering for the AP&M course at Hanze University, interested parties can register for the selection process of the KLM Flight Academy.
