European Flight School, Pilot Flight Academy, Launches Unique Pilot Training Scholarship Program

08th Jul 2023

As one of the leading flight schools in Europe, Pilot Flight Academy (PFA) in Sandeord is launching its own fully funded scholarship program for future pilot students. The students will have their tuition fees covered throughout the entire 18-month vocational school program.

“All available forecasts indicate that the world will face a critical pilot shortage within a few years, and the demand for pilots from airlines will therefore be enormous. Future pilots will have very good prospects for both steady jobs and attractive conditons,” says Mikael Eriksson, CEO of PFA.

Pilot Flight Academy aims to help solve the pilot shortage, and the school is now taking the initiave to make pilot education available to even more people by awarding two free study placements. The scholarship program is one of several measures to raise awareness about the pilot profession. PFA has an international student body, and the scholarship is made available to both Norwegian and international applicants.

With this, the school aims to make education accessible for individuals who would otherwise not have the financial means to pursue their dream of becoming a pilot, as well as individuals who, through their extraordinary social engagement or other merits, have particularly earned this opportunity. Each of the scholarships has a total value of 1 050 000 Norwegian Kroner and covers all semester fees at the school.

The school offers a higher vocational education program over two years, which provides 120 credits and qualifies Norwegian students for support from Lånekassen (the Norwegian State Educational Loan Fund).

“International aviation will have a significant and ongoing need for more skilled pilots in the years to come, and we want to contribute to meeting a small part of this need by offering a top education to talents who desire a future in international aviation,” says Mikael Eriksson, CEO of PFA.

PFA welcomes applicants from around the world to compete for the two pilot scholarships, and women are especially encouraged to apply.

To be considered for the scholarship, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Be between 18 and 33 years old
  • Be between 150-200 cm tall
  • Have completed secondary education
  • Fulfill the medical requirements for a Norwegian Class 1 Aviation Medical Certificate • Pass the admission test for Pilot Flight Academy

Pilot Flight Academy has continuous admissions throughout the year. To qualify for the scholarships in 2023, the application deadline is August 25, 2023, for the course starting on September 20, 2023.
