FlightSafety International, a premier professional aviation training company and supplier of flight simulators, visual systems and displays to commercial, government and military organizations, is hiring Simulation Technicians who shall maintain and /or repair flight training devices (FTDs) in accordance with Regulatory Authority requirements and company standards. “FlightSafety offers pilot, maintenance technician, flight attendant and scheduler/dispatcher training for a wide range of business, commercial and military aircraft, both fixed-wing and helicopter. FlightSafety International is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Berkshire Hathaway.

PURPOSE OF POSITION:

The Simulator Technician maintains and /or repair flight training devices (FTDs) in accordance with Regulatory Authority requirements and company standards. May also make mechanical modifications, updates and repairs to enhance the performance of the FTDs.

Tasks and Responsibilities:

The following duties are essential to the successful and satisfactory performance of this job. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Perform standard Simulator support activities such as: installation, operation, inspection, periodic maintenance (align and adjust), of Simulator components and systems
  • Perform Customer configuration changes to Simulators and FTDs, evaluate and confirm proper post-change operation
  • Identify, troubleshoot, repair or replace most of the Simulator and FTD electrical and sub system components and most hydraulic system components with little to no assistance
  • Monitor Simulator(s) performance and condition to ensure that equipment continues in compliance with governmental regulations
  • Able to accomplish scheduled portions of the Qualification Test Guide (QTG)
  • Demonstrate knowledge of all Simulator Support, Quality Operating Procedures and related documentation
  • Make recommendations concerning needed parts, acquisitions, or other materials used for FTD repair and support
  • Report any safety hazards observed in work area, equipment, and/or building as per company Safety Management System
  • Demonstrate familiarity with Learning Centre daily department operations and applicable procedures

Minimum Education:

  • Level 5 or above qualification in electronics from a college or completion of a civilian/military electronics technical school preferred

Minimum Experience:

  • At least 3 years’ experience, including electronics technology, avionics, aeronautics or related civilian/military technology, or
  • Equivalent direct experience with simulators or other FTDs”
