Bankstown, NSW, Australia –One of the largest pilot training organisations in Australia, Basair Australia Pty Limited is seeking a Head of Finance to lead the financial strategy and operations for its aviation training and services group. This senior leadership role reports directly to the CEO and oversees financial and IT functions, ensuring the organization’s financial health aligns with its strategic goals.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Strategy and Planning

Develop and implement financial strategies to support organizational goalsLead annual budgeting and forecasting processesProvide financial scenario planning for strategic decisions

Financial Management and Reporting

Oversee accurate preparation of financial statements and reportsAnalyze financial performance and identify actionable insightsEnsure strong cash flow management and liquidity

Governance, Compliance, and Risk Management

Ensure compliance with financial regulations and tax obligationsMaintain robust internal controls and oversee external audits

Operational Leadership

Manage the finance team and foster a high-performance cultureDrive cost-efficiency initiatives while maintaining quality and safety

Stakeholder Engagement

Serve as a key financial contact for external stakeholders, including auditors and investorsPresent financial updates and recommendations to the board and senior leadership

IT Management

Manage outsourced IT services, ensuring KPIs are met and advising on IT strategy

Candidate Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related fieldCPA or CA ANZ certificationProven senior financial leadership experience, ideally in aviation, education, or a related sectorStrong knowledge of financial systems (Oracle, NetSuite preferred)Experience with regulated environments and compliance requirements

Skills and Competencies
