ASTi Awarded Contract to Deliver AI Training Capabilities to US Military Division’s Aviation Training Command

Advanced Simulation Technology inc. (ASTi), a developer of AI- and simulation-based training products and solutions, received an enterprise-level subcontract award from prime government contractor, TakeFlight Interactive. The contract is the first in a series of phased rollouts of ASTi’s Simulated Environment for Realistic ATC (SERA) and TakeFlight’s AIVIator AI Virtual Flight Instructor products across the U.S. Navy’s Chief of Naval Aviation Training (CNATRA) training wings.

As partners, ASTi and TakeFlight Interactive will field integrated, AI-based training capabilities increasing the quality and consistency of student performance and training production. More importantly, these capabilities will reduce the cost of aviation training for the Navy, Marine Corps and foreign military services.

Under the contract, ASTi and TakeFlight will provide product licenses and related services supporting 50 T-6B flight training devices at theNavy’s Training Air Wing Four, located at the Naval Air Station (NAS) in Corpus Christi, TX. ASTi will also develop custom, synthetic environment configurations to meet Navy requirements for simulated flight operations at eight airfields and practice areas located at TrainingAir Wing Four and Training Air Wing Five.

Combined, SERA and AIVIator greatly reduce training staff workload by offloading role-player and instructor duties to AI agents, providing an automated, repeatable and objectively scored interactive training domain available for 24/7, student-led training.

SERA creates an interactive environment populated with ATC services and air traffic—complete with simulated radio communications—and it replicates malfunctions, mishaps and weather conditions to enhance immersion and cognitive loading for better situational awareness training. An AI virtual instructor provides self-guided, fully interactive training with objective scoring and dynamic feedback supporting cockpit procedures, performance maneuvers, landing procedures, local operations, emergency procedures, aerobatics, instrument procedures and formation flight.

ASTi’s enterprise solution is based on an all-inclusive subscription model that provides predictable costs and risk reduction. In addition toproduct licensing, the enterprise solution includes a comprehensive service package that includes the following:

  • Ongoing development of content for Naval undergraduate curriculum modules
  • Onsite fielding, training and help-desk services
  • Product and Information Assurance (IA) software maintenance

About ASTi’s SERA

SERA, ASTi’s leading simulated air traffic control environment (SATCE) system, fully complies with the latest industry requirements for SATCE solutions. This innovative technology eliminates the need for an instructor to role-play air traffic control, ensuring consistent phraseology for ATC and all other traffic radio calls.

About ASTi’s partner, TakeFlight Interactive

TakeFlight Interactive is a pioneer in AI-based immersive training solutions. Using a unique combination of game design, AI and data analytics, TakeFlight delivers high-quality, self-guided, fully interactive training. The company’s expertise in interactive simulation, combined with a commitment to excellence and professionalism positions TakeFlight Interactive as a trusted partner in thedevelopment of advanced training solutions.

Boeing to Open its Largest Facility Outside the US in India

Boeing India is poised to inaugurate a sprawling 43-acre complex situated within the Aerospace Park near Devanahalli’s Kempegowda International Airport. This venture represents a substantial investment of Rs 1600 crore, marking Boeing’s most significant facility outside of the United States of America. Boeing India aims to elevate its sourcing from India to Rs 10,000 crore annually, a step up from the current Rs 8000 crore.

Boeing’s existing operations in India are primarily based in New Delhi and encompass field service offices located in Mumbai, Hindan, Rajali, and New Delhi. They also include the Boeing India Engineering & Technology Center (BIETC) in Bengaluru and Chennai. Furthermore, Boeing recently revealed a $100 million commitment for infrastructure development and pilot training initiatives in India, prompted by a sizeable agreement with Air India for more than 200 aircraft, comprising 20 787 Dreamliners, 10 777Xs, and 190 737 MAX narrowbody aircraft.

Devanahalli has emerged as a pivotal hub due to its close proximity to Kempegowda International Airport and the forthcoming Blue metro line (KR Pura – Yelahanka – KIA), approved in April 2021. These factors have stimulated employment opportunities and heightened housing demand in the area, prompting Boeing to establish its most extensive facility in this strategically advantageous location.
