UAE’s Vertical UPRT Announces 2025 Appointment for ATO COO, Head of Training and Standardization

Ras Al Khaimah, United Arab Emirates – Vertical UPRT, a specialized division of ActionFlight focused on delivering Upset Prevention and Recovery Training (UPRT) for cadets, airline pilots, and business aviation operators, has appointed Captain Rob Akron as ATO COO and Head of Training and Standardization.

  • Captain Akron brings extensive UPRT and aerobatic experience, including roles as instructor‑instructor, intercontinental ferry pilot, and most recently Head of Training at a German aerobatic/UPRT school—the first in Germany to integrate electric aircraft into certified training.

  • His previous clients include the German Air Force, Turkish Airlines Flight Academy, EASA test pilots, and national aviation authorities across Europe.

  • Capt. Akron sits on the EASA Rulemaking Taskforce for unmanned aircraft integration and represents the European Cockpit Association in discussions on UPRT and drone operations.

  • At Vertical UPRT, he will lead the development of advanced programs in:

    • Advanced UPRT (on‑aircraft and simulation)

    •  Electric aircraft training

    • Unmanned aviation systems (UAS)

In June 2025,  aviation training provider ActionFlight launched Vertical UPRT Solutions. The launch comes in response to industry-wide emphasis on mitigating Loss of Control In-flight (LOC-I), a leading cause of aircraft accidents.
