The Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi (DCT Abu Dhabi) will be the Official Destination Partner for the Air Expo 2024, set to take place from 19-21 November at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC), underscoring the emirate’s prominence as a key facilitator of diverse, high-level MICE events in the region.

Abu Dhabi Air Expo is one of the most successful aviation exhibitions within the region. Alternating with Dubai Airshow, the exhibition is designed for professionals and offers visitors a wide and representative range of the ever-growing aviation industry.

Air Expo 2024 will bring together over 20,000 aviation professionals, industry leaders, and enthusiasts from around the globe, showcasing cutting-edge technologies and advancements in the dynamic aviation and aerospace sectors. French Aviation and Pilot Training Group, Mermoz Academy, Expands its Training Fleet with 3rd ALSIM Simulator

France headquartered flight simulator manufactuer ALSIM is pleased to announce the strengthening of its partnership with Mermoz Academy, which has recently acquired a second AL250 simulator for its facility in Nîmes. With this addition, Mermoz Academy now has three ALSIM simulators, including another AL250 and an AIRLINER. This new acquisition reflects Mermoz Academy’s ongoing confidence in ALSIM’s flight training solutions.

The AL250 simulator addresses initial phase of training needs (PPL, CPL, IR/ME) and is SEP/MEP re–configurable simulator certified as an EASA FNPT II. In addition, it offers both classic and glass cockpit for each flight model at the simple flick of a switch. This device has been extremely well received since its creation and more than 100 of these have already been installed and are in successful operation worldwide.

Sylvain Morel, Head of Training at Mermoz Academy, explains: “To support its development, the Mermoz-Academy group needed to expand its fleet of IR simulators to meet its training criteria. We naturally chose the Alsim AL250 due to its performance and ease of teaching. This simulator aligns with the group’s specifications, particularly concerning uniformity and standardization.”

US Flight Training Group Expands Network with Acquisition of Flight School Assets in November 2024

Fort Myers, Florida, USA – Paragon Flight Training, an award-winning flight training academy based at Page Field in Fort Myers, Florida, has purchased the assets of AirVentures in LaGrange, Georgia, a flight training cornerstone in the region for more than 30 years. The announcement was made by Paragon Flight President Chris Schoensee and follows the company’s 2023 entrance into the Georgia market when it began a partnership with LaGrange College to offer the college’s first program in aviation.

“At Paragon Flight, our strategic expansion plans are guided by a solid cultural fit centered on a shared vision of excellence in flight training and locations rooted in growing regional markets – and AirVentures fits the bill on both counts,” Schoensee said. “It is an established and well-respected local flight training school in a burgeoning area of Georgia and the purchase is another milestone in our company’s 18-year history,” Schoensee said.

In May of this year, Paragon Flight announced its company-wide student enrollment was at an all-time high, and in September welcomed its first full-year class of students at LaGrange College pursuing a minor in aviation using Paragon Flight’s acclaimed Professional Pilot Program (P3). The program is specifically designed to allow students to pursue other majors while simultaneously preparing for dynamic careers.

“Our entrance into Georgia with the LaGrange College partnership opened our eyes to the tremendous potential in this part of the state. With its proximity to Atlanta and the strong interest in commercial aviation careers continuing unabated, we are bullish on the opportunity to integrate AirVentures operations into Paragon Flight and significantly bolster our flight training capacity here,” Schoensee said.

The purchase price remains confidential. A second AirVentures location in Columbus, Georgia, was not part of the acquisition. The LaGrange location will begin operating under the Paragon Flight Training brand effective December 1, 2024.

Paragon Flight now has three locations, with its headquarters in Fort Myers, Florida, and a Punta Gorda location that opened in 2023 at the Punta Gorda PDG Air Center. Per a previously announced long-term strategy to add 50 Piper aircraft by the end of 2027, Paragon Flight has added 9 new Piper P100i’s already this year, with the tenth arriving this month. With more than 30 Piper P100i aircraft currently in its fleet, Paragon Flight owns approximately 15% of the Piper P100i aircraft in existence, including the milestone 100th Piper P100i.

CAE Prodigy Officially Launched to the Civil Aviation Market with Air Canada as the Launch Customer

Montreal, Canada – CAE announced that it has begun deployment to customers of its full-flight simulators (FFS) equipped with the new ultra-realistic 3D visual system using gaming technology, the CAE Prodigy Image Generator (IG). Air Canada is the launch customer, with a new CAE Prodigy-equipped Airbus A320 FFS which was put into service at its training facility in Vancouver, Canada. As of now, CAE Prodigy is available on new FFS for all commercial and business aircraft models, and as an upgrade package on already deployed FFS, providing an ultra-realistic and immersive pilot training experience.

CAE is the first leading aviation simulation and training organization to seamlessly integrate a gaming engine into its FFS visual system and achieve level D qualification from Transport Canada, the highest level of qualification for a FFS. CAE achieved this by adapting Epic Games’ Unreal Engine to build a high-end image generator product.

“CAE Prodigy elevates training standards with photorealistic renderings, enhanced moving models, resulting in a more immersive environment. It improves visual simulation fidelity, making training not only more realistic but also more effective. CAE Prodigy supports a range of projection technologies, ensuring flexibility and scalability across different training devices, making it a game changer in the industry,” said CAE’s Chief Technology and Product Officer, Emmanuel Levitte. “This impressive innovation required a unique mix of domain expertise and game engine knowhow, which is why we leveraged the game development expertise of Montreal-based game studio Behaviour Interactive for this project.”

“We’re celebrating the first customer deployment of a new simulator equipped with CAE Prodigy, and we’re proud to have Air Canada as our launch customer for this Canadian innovation, as we have a long tradition of collaboration to introduce new technology to the market,” said Michel Azar-Hmouda, CAE Division President, Commercial Aviation. “But this is only the beginning for CAE Prodigy as we will be deploying this ultra-realistic visual system on other CAE full-flight simulators over the coming months both in new simulators and in update packages for customers.”

This new technology reinforces Air Canada’s commitment to providing the highest level of training to our pilots for the safety and comfort of our customers and crew,” said Murray Strom, Senior Vice President, Flight Operations and Maintenance at Air Canada.

This deployment at Air Canada marks the official release of CAE Prodigy for the civil aviation market. The next step in the product development roadmap includes new and improved capabilities to support Defense & Security simulator deployments.
