Fast Growing Middle East Low Cost Carrier Appoints Captain Ahmed Shanan as Chairman

Cairo, Egypt based low-cost carrier Air Cairo has announced the appointment of Captain Ahmed Shanan as the new Chairman of the Board of Directors as of Tuesday, March 5, 2024, succeeding Mr. Hussein Sharif, who submitted his resignation from the Board.

Captain Ahmed Shanan was the General Manager of air operations at the company, a certified trainer from the ICAO organization and the general manager of safety and quality at the company.

The Board of Directors expressed confidence in Captain Shanan and affirmed his confidence in his ability to lead the company at this important time.

Shanan thanked the Board of Directors for their trust and expressed its absolute commitment to achieving the vision and objectives of the company.

In particular, Shanan stressed the importance of continuing the growth process and diversifying services in line with the objectives set for the strategic plan 2027, as Air Cairo relies on a 20-year track record of success and benefiting from the expertise and experience of its employees capable of preserving and enhancing Air Cairo’s gains.

While the SAT is in progress, HAVELSAN will embark on the EASA Certification of its simulator as with the EASA approval, all of the HAVELSAN-manufactured full flight simulators will be EASA certified including the Boeing B737NG and Boeing B737MAX. With these state-of-the-art simulators, the pilots will receive their training in simulators that are indistinguishable from real aircraft and highly reliable.

Over the last few months of 2023, HAVELSAN had achieved a number of significant milestones as it ramps up its activities to support airlines and pilot training organizations including the EASA certification of two Boeing B737MAX full flight simulators, along with announcing the opening of a new Turkish Airline Training Center within HAVELSAN’s premises.

As one of the biggest simulator manufacturer companies, HAVELSAN relentlessly completes simulator deliveries in line with its customers’ needs and rapidly responds to the increasing demand for simulator training. The company is currently actively seeking additional airline or training center operators to share information about its products and the unique offering that it can provide.
