Maldivian Airline Places Order for 2 Aircraft During the Singapore Airshow 2024

Maldivian, the national airline of Maldives, confirmed an order for two ATR 42-600 during the Singapore Airshow 2024. With this, the airline is expanding its regional fleet to a total of seven ATR aircraft. Equipped with extra efficient PW127XT engines from Pratt & Whitney Canada and boasting spacious, appealing cabins, these modern aircraft will revolutionise connectivity for the Maldives’ communities and businesses.

By selecting the most cost-effective and lowest-emission regional aircraft on the market, Maldivian fuels the archipelago’s economic dynamism while significantly reducing emissions.

This order, initiated in 2023 as part of undisclosed deals, marks a significant milestone in their journey.

Aircraft Manufacturer AURA AERO Showcases Power-On Event of Electric Aircraft First Prototype

The tarmac of Toulouse-Francazal airport hosted the power-on of the first prototype of INTEGRAL E, before the AURA AERO teams, investors, partners, customers and journalists, as well as many institutional representatives. The event took place under the patronage of French navigator Louis Burton, who amicably participated and, being himself committed to decarbonizing sailing, saluted the eco-responsible approach of AURA AERO in this electric aircraft project.

The power-on, the first propeller revolution and the first roll-out of INTEGRAL E represent a major industrial milestone for AURA AERO. INTEGRAL E will begin its flight test campaign in a few weeks and the entry into service of the INTEGRAL electric range is scheduled for 2026.

Mastering this new electric propelling system is an essential competence for the ERA program, the 19-seater regional transport aircraft currently developed by AURA AERO.

For Jérémy Caussade, President and co-founder of AURA AERO: “The first power-on of INTEGRAL E represents a very intense moment in the history of AURA AERO, a history which we are writing each day, with our teams and with the support of all those who are alongside us”. He adds: “I particularly would like to thank the Occitanie Region, who was the first to believe in us and support the INTEGRAL project as soon as 2019, and also INNOVACOM and the BPI, as well as all our investors and friends, who helped us raise the funds necessary for launching this project, essential for decarbonizing aviation. We are now starting our second fund-raising campaign in order to accelerate the adventure and we will see you very soon for the take-off of the French electric two-seater aircraft!”.

Louis Burton, patron of the event, adds: ”Modern aviation has helped pioneers accelerate their discovery of the world and has enabled people over the world to meet, I am proud and honored to sponsor INTEGRAL E by AURA AERO, a company that works so this remains possible, while addressing climate challenges”.

Around twelve INTEGRAL are already in production, pending the certification of INTEGRAL R and S, and before the first customer deliveries, scheduled this year. A tow-plane version of INTEGRAL E will also be developed, in partnership with the French Gliding Federation (FFVP), making this aircraft the first French electric tow-plane, modern, economic and eco-friendly, reducing noise and carbon footprint of towing activities.
