Nordic Airline Launches Cadet Pilot Program with Pilot Flight Academy

Icelandair has announced the launch of a new abinitio pilot cadet training program in partnership with the Norwegian flight school Pilot Flight Academy. The program is designed to provide students with priority employment opportunities at Icelandair upon graduation. The training program includes theoretical training in Sandefjord, Norway, lasting about 8 months, followed by practical training in Texas for 4 months. Afterward, students return to Norway for instrument and multi-engine training, A-UPRT, and APS MCC training, with the entire program taking approximately 18 months.

Icelandair CEO Bogi Nils Bogason stated: “As an island, Iceland is heavily reliant on aviation, so it is crucial that we offer excellent educational opportunities in the specialized fields of aviation. While Icelandair continues to experience high demand for positions within our company, it is important to support the continued growth of our society and ensure a skilled workforce for the future.”

  • Applications for the program will be accepted from September 14th to September 28th, 2023.
  • The program is open to applicants aged 18-30 with a high school-level education and good English skills.
  • While Icelandic proficiency is not required, it is desirable.

Florida, United States based Epic Flight Academy welcomed representatives from the United Airlines Aviate program. They spoke with Epic pilots about exciting career opportunities through this innovative initiative. United Airlines Aviate Program, in partnership with Epic Flight Academy, offers the opportunity to embark on a career path that leads directly to United Airlines.

Aspiring pilots must first meet eligibility requirements to train at Epic Flight Academy in Florida, a Part 141 FAA-Certified flight school. Once accepted at Epic, they will earn Private Pilot License, then can apply to the Aviate program. Upon acceptance into Aviate, these students will be assigned an Aviate coach, a United pilot, to provide guidance and mentoring as they continue flight training at Epic.
