Greece – Simulation and aviation training systems manufacturer AMST has secured a contract to deliver its latest AIRFOX DISO Spatial Disorientation Trainer to the Hellenic Air Force (HAF), replacing the previous system that has been in operation for over two decades.

  • The Hellenic Air Force selected AMST’s next-generation AIRFOX DISO system following an international public tender.

  • The upgrade will replace the long-serving trainer located at Athens Air Force General Hospital, which had been operational for more than 20 years.

  • The AIRFOX DISO system offers advanced spatial disorientation training to better prepare military pilots for the physiological challenges of flight.

  • AMST met all technical and budgetary requirements, leveraging its deep familiarity with HAF’s training needs.

Italy – Airways Aviation Italy (Professione Volare), part of the global Airways Aviation pilot and aviation training group, welcomed local officials to its Forlì base as part of broader efforts to establish the city as a future “Aviation Valley”. Mayor Gian Luca Zattini and Councillor Paola Casara visited the academy, highlighting its role within the region’s aerospace cluster.

Flight Simulation Conference Returns to London in October 2025

United Kingdom – The RAeS Flight Simulation Conference will again be hosted this October at the Royal Aeronautical Society (RAeS) in London. The two-day event will bring together leading voices from industry, regulatory bodies, academia, and the user community for focused discussion and knowledge-sharing. The full programme for 21 and 22 October 2025 is now available, and registration has opened via the Society’s website. 

Building on last year’s successful conference, the 2025 edition will follow up on key developments and progress in global regulation while exploring the increasing use of transformative technologies in flight simulation. A particular focus will be on how simulation is helping accelerate aircraft development and certification for new platforms. 

The keynote session will provide critical briefings on implementing the new EASA Certification Specification for Flight Simulation Training Devices (CS-FSTD) and updates on upcoming ICAO activities for a “new 9625.” Attendees will hear directly from the experts shaping these developments and gain insight into their impact on training, qualification, and operational use of flight simulation.

Edwin A. Link Named Lecture

The first day of the conference will end with the Edwin A. Link Named Lecture, starting at 6 p.m. Edwin Link created the first flight simulator and championed the technology before, during, and after the Second World War.
