Flight Schedule Pro and Garmin Team Up for Automated Aircraft Data Integration

USA – Flight Schedule Pro, one of the world’s leading flight school operations platform providers, is working with Garmin to integrate PlaneSync™ aircraft flight logging data into its system—bringing enhanced automation and actionable insights to training operators.

  • Garmin’s PlaneSync™ captures detailed aircraft metrics—engine data, GPS tracks, environmental readings—but training operators need this data tied into lesson management and compliance tools.

  • Flight Schedule Pro is exploring an integration enabling automatic syncing of flight metrics directly into its platform to streamline instructor logs, resource scheduling, and student progress tracking.

  • The collaboration aims to reduce manual data entry, auto-populate post-flight logs, improve transparency into in-air operations, and support smarter dispatch decisions.

  • Future capabilities under consideration include maintenance tracking integration, enriched training progress reporting, and operational analytics connected to logged flight data.

  • Flight Schedule Pro emphasizes that the goal is to tailor data flows to everyday flight school workflows—supporting flight line efficiency and instructional quality, not just maintenance logs.

Lufthansa Aviation Training Successfully Introduces Virtual Reality Lufthansa Group Pilot Training – Launch Customer is Brussels Airlines

Europe – After an intensive test phase a major milestone in pilot training has been achieved by successfully implementing Virtual Procedure Training at Brussels Airlines: from July 2 to 4, 2025, two crews from the Belgian Lufthansa Group airline completed a part of their A320 Type Rating using a VR-based solution within an authority-approved training program.

  • First use of VR as an integral part of an A320 type rating
  • Two-year collaboration between Lufthansa Aviation Training and Airbus in software development
  • Brussels Airlines as Launch Customer for Virtual Procedure Training within the Lufthansa Group

This marks the first time that Virtual Reality (VR) is used in pilot training not just as a supplement but as a replacement for sessions on traditional training devices such as the Flat Panel Trainer (FPT) – and without supervision by an instructor. This change also represents a technological turning point: the tailored use of VR technology elevates the conventional “screen-based cockpit” training by a fully immersive, realistic 3D environment with interaction and guidance to a new level.

Partnership with Airbus: Innovation Through Collaboration

The implementation of VR training is the result of more than two years of strategic collaboration between Lufthansa Aviation Training (LAT) and Airbus. As part of a joint project with Lufthansa Group airlines, the “Virtual Procedure Trainer” (VPT) software developed by Airbus – one module of the Airbus Digital Flight Training Solutions – has been advanced for operational use and embedded into an innovative training concept.

“With the VPT we are creating a new training ecosystem: more flexible, more efficient, and sustainable. We are very pleased that Brussels Airlines is the first to trust in this innovation – and that we were able to shape a piece of the future of training together,” Pia Born, Project Manager at LAT.

Brussels Airlines: A Pioneer Within the Lufthansa Group

With its successful deployment of the VPT, Brussels Airlines is taking a pioneering role in the use of immersive technologies in pilot training, both within the Lufthansa Group and beyond.

“VR offers a significantly more realistic and intense training experience. Our pilots can autodidactically practice procedures early and repeatedly, build muscle memory, and gain situational confidence – an ideal preparation for the simulator phase with increased effectiveness and reduced infrastructure requirements.”

Captain Gauthier Lesceu, Chief Theoretical Knowledge Instructor (CTKI) at Brussels Airlines

“This innovation highlights our agility and commitment to excellence in training our crews. Special thanks to our partners at LAT for the professional design and execution,” Captain Dave van Buynder, Nominated Person Crew Training (NPCT) at Brussels Airlines.

Scaling & Further Development

Following the successful rollout at Brussels Airlines, the next step is the gradual introduction at all ten A320 operators within the Lufthansa Group across seven training locations. The VPT will be initially used to train normal standard operating procedures. In parallel, the system is continuously being optimized and developed further to support abnormal procedures and additional aircraft types such as the A330 and A350.

Looking beyond the Lufthansa Group, LAT is also preparing an adapted product for the external training market. At the same time, internal organizational structures and operational processes are being further professionalized to establish VR as a permanent element of modern pilot training.

About Lufthansa Aviation Training
With its competencies in training flight and cabin crews at ten training locations worldwide, Lufthansa Aviation Training GmbH (LAT) is among the world leaders in the field of aviation training. The company is headquartered at Munich Airport and employs around 800 people at all its locations. Its client portfolio encompasses more than 250 nationally and internationally renowned airlines, among them the Lufthansa Group airlines. LAT operates close to 200 training devices. These include training aircraft for pilot training, flight simulators for all common aircraft types for pilot training, as well as emergency and service mock-ups for cabin crews. The flight schools of the Lufthansa Group are joined under LAT’s brand European Flight Academy (EFA).

Private-Radar Launches Crew Information System to Enhance Safety and Compliance in Flight Training

Global – Private-Radar, a leading Flight School Management Solution, is proud to announce the release of its latest module: The Crew Information System (CIS), a powerful tool designed to enhance safety by simplifying the distribution of critical information to flight crews and ensuring full operational compliance.

With the Crew Information System, Private-Radar partners can send essential information and documents—such as Standard Operating Procedures, training handbooks, aircraft manuals, safety bulletins, checklist, etc.—directly to instructors, student pilots, and other crew members. This centralized system ensures critical information is delivered efficiently and on time.

Crucially, a key feature of the Crew Information System is its ability to require mandatory reading or signatures from recipients. The built-in compliance tracking system ensures that no information goes unacknowledged, and flight dispatch can be automatically prevented until crew members fulfil the required actions. This functionality ensures nothing is overlooked, strengthening both safety and accountability.

Prisque Lemblé, Founder and CEO at Private-Radar: “The Crew Information System was built in response to growing demands from our partners for a reliable and trackable way to manage operational communication, it’s a major step toward reducing risk and improving training efficiency.”

Use Case Example

A typical use case is a flight school updating a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP). The Head of Training creates a new Crew Information outlining the changes, attaches the revised SOP, and sets constraints— mandatory reading, signature required, and prevent dispatch. They then send the Crew Information to all instructors and students. Private-Radar will prevent dispatching flights when the Pilot in Command has not read and signed this Crew Information, ensuring 100% compliance before any flight takes place.

The Crew Information System is already available to all Private-Radar partners.
