Acron Aviation Academy Welcomes First Class of 28 Cadets in April 2025

Sanford, Florida, USA – Acron Aviation Academy officially welcomed its first class of 28 student pilots to its Sanford-based training center under the new brand. The event was attended by David Coward, VP & GM Training Services.

During the welcome session, an A319 aircraft featuring Acron’s Avionics products taxied past, symbolizing the company’s integrated presence in aviation training and technology.

On March 31, 2025, the L3Harris Airline Academy embarked on a new chapter as part of Acron Aviation.

  • The fourth batch of cadets completed their training at OAA’s facility located at Suhar Airport.

  • The cadets were enrolled in the Airline Transport Pilot License (ATPL) program, a collaborative initiative between Oman Air and OAA, launched in 2018.

  • Upon graduation, the cadets are set to join Oman Air as Second Officers, contributing to the airline’s operational capabilities.

DGCA Removes Class 12 Science Requirement, Expands Pilot Training Access in India

India – India’s aviation regulator, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), has removed the requirement for aspiring pilot trainees to have studied physics and mathematics at the Class 12 level if they are from commerce or arts streams.

  • The revised rule now allows students from non-science backgrounds to enroll in pilot training programs.

  • Candidates must now complete an approved bridge course in physics and mathematics from the National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) or an equivalent, prior to appearing for the DGCA’s Commercial Pilot Licence (CPL) examination.

  • The move is aimed at widening access to aviation careers amid the growing demand for pilots in India.

  • Previously, only students who had completed Class 12 with science subjects were eligible for CPL training.
