FTD.aero Installs an A32N EASA FNPT II MCC Device at Urbe Aero Flight Academy in Rome

Rome, Italy – flight simulator manufacturer FTD.aero-built A320 EASA FNPT II MCC device has been successfully installed at Roma Urbe Airport in Italy. This marks another great milestone in FTD.aero’s cooperation with Urbe Aero Flight Academy.

In December 2024, the simulator underwent comprehensive acceptance tests (scroll down for more details) and following that, it has been successfully installed at Urbe Aero’s training center at Roma Urbe Airport.

The certification from the Italian Civil Aviation Authority (ENAC) is anticipated very soon and once certified, Urbe Aero ATO will be able to commence A320 training programs for aspiring airline pilots in a highly realistic APS MCC training environment.

Urbe Aero ATO has built a strong reputation for providing high-quality flight training in cooperation with major European airlines. The organization’s training programs are widely recognized across the industry, with cadets being trained on both the A320 and the previously delivered B73M FNPT II MCC simulators, both manufactured and installed by FTD.aero

Lorenzo Mezzadri, Accountable Manager of Urbe Aero Flight Academy, expressed enthusiasm about the new addition, stating that it enhances their capability to train pilots on aircraft commonly used by major airlines, thanks to the authentic, high-fidelity training experience offered by these state-of-the-art simulators. Turkish Airlines Flight Academy Expands – Opening 6th Base of Operations

Türkiye – Turkish Airlines Flight Academy (TAFA), the abinitio pilot training academy of Turkish Airlines, is expanding its domestic training footprint with the addition of Zafer Regional Airport as its sixth training base. Operations at the new location will commence on April 15, 2025.

  • Zafer Airport becomes the sixth TAFA training base, joining existing facilities in Aydın, Ephesus, Uşak, Adana, and Bodrum.
  • The initial deployment will include four training aircraft stationed at Zafer Airport.
  • The location was selected for its low air traffic density and high operational efficiency, providing an optimal environment for cadet pilot training.
  • The expansion supports TAFA’s strategy to scale up its capacity to meet growing pilot demand across the Turkish Airlines Group.
  • The academy currently operates a fleet of 50 aircraft and plans to expand to 107 aircraft by Q1 2027, with 47 new aircraft expected by the end of 2025.
  • Over the past five years, TAFA has graduated more than 900 pilots and recorded 220,000 flight hours as of December 2024.

Jacqueline, a former Division I student-athlete and professional tennis player turned aviator, was selected for her exceptional perseverance, leadership, and dedication to flight training. Singapore & Malaysia – The Centre for Mindfulness (CFM), a leading training provider offering mindfulness-based interventions for students, professionals, and organisations, has announced a strategic partnership with the Asia Aeronautical Training Academy (AATA), a renowned Approved Training Organisation – Flight Training Organisation (ATO-FTO) approved by the Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia (CAAM).  This collaboration brings together Centre for Mindfulness’ Calm in Command course to AATA’s instructors and cadets, aiming to develop the competencies of airline-ready future commanders while undertaking their ab-initio training.

In the high-stakes environment of aviation, situation awareness is the cornerstone of effective decision-making, safety, and successful flight operations. Yet, most flight schools focus primarily on technical skills, leaving cadet pilots without a structured developmental pathway for non-technical competencies such as situation awareness.

Poor situation awareness in the flight deck can have severe consequences, including miscommunication, delayed decision-making, and compromised safety. Mindfulness practices enhance self-awareness, allowing pilots to better manage their emotions, recognize subtle environmental cues, and stay present in rapidly evolving scenarios. By developing self-awareness, pilots naturally enhance situation awareness, which in turn strengthens their ability to manage workload, solve problems, make decisions, and lead effectively.

With Evidence-Based Training (EBT) now focusing on pilots’ core competencies in the airlines, Calm in Command is a must for cadet pilots looking to excel in their assessments and future careers in the airlines. This program not only prepares cadet pilots for EBT assessments but also sets them up for a successful and mentally resilient aviation career.
