Irish Pilot Training Organization Welcomes Record October Intake of Cadet Pilots

Cork, Ireland – Atlantic Flight Training Academy (AFTA) has welcomed one of its largest Integrated classes this October, with over 40 cadets arriving from various parts of the world. The academy is particularly excited to see many students join its airline-mentored programs.

In April 2024 Ryanair launched its new Future Flyer Academy pilot training programme in partnership with Atlantic Flight Training Academy which will see over 400 aspiring pilots join the airline group as Second Officers over the next 4 years.

Indian Flight Training Group Chimes Aviation Academy Launches IndiGo Flying Instructor Program

Chimes Aviation Academy (CAA), which operates two flight training bases in India and recently announced an order to expand its fleet with additional training aircraft, has launched together with Indian airline IndiGo, the IndiGo Flying Instructor Program (FIP). This program aims to deliver top-quality pilot training while providing a clear pathway for aspiring instructors to transition into commercial airline roles at IndiGo, one of India’s largest carriers.

Program Overview:

  • The CAA-IndiGo FIP offers multi-engine CPL holders an opportunity to become certified flight instructors at CAA while building valuable flight experience.
  • The program focuses on flying instruction for IndiGo cadet pilots, allowing candidates to accumulate 2000 flight hours, enhance their aviation skills, and ultimately move into positions as Junior First Officers (JFO) at IndiGo.
  • After logging 500 flight hours on the Airbus A320, successful candidates will be promoted to Senior First Officer (SFO), fast-tracking their commercial aviation careers.
  • The cost of the instructor rating is covered
  • When a candidate is selected by IndiGo Airlines and successfully signs an LOI with the airline, they will retain seniority at the airline from that day forward

Eligibility:

  • Current students and graduates of Chimes Aviation Academy will be given preference, though all CPL holders with a multi-engine rating and a passion for aviation education are encouraged to apply.
  • Candidates must pass a two-round interview process, along with an ADAPT test, to be selected for the program.

Requirements:

  • Commercial Pilot License (CPL) with a multi-engine rating is required. No prior flight instruction experience is needed.
  • Maximum age for applicants: 40 years.
  • Preferred experience with C172, PA28, and DA42 aircraft.

Application Process:

  • Written test, followed by interviews with both CAA and IndiGo teams.
  • Candidates will undergo the ADAPT test, a personal interview with IndiGo, and upon successful completion, receive an LOI (Letter of Intent) from IndiGo.
