Europe’s Largest Flight Crew and Training Gathering “Pilot Expo” Moves to Brussels in February 2025

Pilot Expo, Europe’s largest flight crew gathering, is set to return in February 2025 with a new location at Brussels Airport (Zaventem). The popular event will continue to provide exciting career and business opportunities for aviation professionals.

  • Pilot Expo 2025 will take place on February 21-22, 2025, offering two days of business and entertainment for flight crew, aviation training professionals and aspiring pilots.
  • The new venue, Brussels Airport, offers improved international accessibility and a larger surrounding population within a three-hour drive radius.
  • Tickets go on sale starting October 1, 2024.

The Air League, one of the UK’s oldest and foremost aviation charities, has appointed Janine Hornsby as its new Chief Executive, marking a key moment in its mission to inspire and develop the next generation of aviation and aerospace talent.

Janine Hornsby joins The Air League from Marshall Aerospace, where she led significant Science, Technology, Engineering, and Maths (STEM) engagement programmes aimed at schools and communities across the UK. Her work focused on fostering industry collaboration to address the growing skills gap within the aerospace sector, which has been recognised as a key challenge for the future of the industry.

Before her tenure at Marshall, Hornsby, an MBA graduate of Westminster University, transitioned from the education sector, where she held teaching roles and later became Head of Curriculum at one of Cambridgeshire’s most challenging secondary schools, further strengthening her ability to engage with young minds and develop their potential.

Claire Macaleese FRAeS, Chair of The Air League, welcomed the new appointment, stating:

“Air League Trustees are thrilled to have Janine as our new Chief Executive. Her combined experience in the aerospace and education sectors, along with her passion for addressing social mobility and widening access to STEM, makes her the ideal person to take The Air League forward. This marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter as we continue our mission to inspire young people, particularly from underserved communities, to pursue opportunities in aviation and aerospace.”

UK College Welcomes New ALSIM AL250 Simulator at Air and Space Institute in 2024

France headquartered flight simulator manufacturer ALSIM is proud to share that the AL250 simulator, recently purchased by Lincoln College Group, is now installed in the brand-new Air and Space Institute at Newark. Unveiled in June, this new training facility prepares students for careers in the aviation industry. The facility houses an Airbus A318 aircraft and several state-of-the-art simulators, including the AL250 equipped with the Engineering Pack.

The AL250 simulator addresses initial phase of training needs (PPL, CPL, IR/ME) and is SEP/MEP re–configurable simulator certified as an EASA FNPT II. In addition, it offers both classic and glass cockpit for each flight model at the simple flick of a switch. This device has been extremely well received since its creation and more than 100 of these have already been installed and are in successful operation worldwide.

The ALSIM Engineering Pack empowers engineering students to be completely independent to design and test aircraft models on the ALSIM AL250 simulator. Integrated within MATLAB® and Simulink®, it offers nearly 4,000 editable variables for endless possibilities.
