FLYING Media Group Acquires AirlineGeeks Digital Media Site
FLYING Media Group has acquired AirlineGeeks, a digital media site that offers news, reviews, and content about the airline industry. AirlineGeeks delivers the latest airline and aviation news around the globe in real time, offering a unique vantage point for the “AvGeek.” With more than 25 contributors, AirlineGeeks is trafficked by aviation enthusiasts, as well as airline industry executives and analysts.
AirlineGeeks is the 20th aviation-related brand that FLYING Media Group has purchased in the past two years in a strategy to expand the world’s leading aviation content platform and serve an audience that spans from light sport to space and vintage to frontier.
“As a young boy, I fell in love with aviation while watching airliners take off and land near my house in Tennessee,” said Craig Fuller, CEO of FLYING Media Group (FMG). “I would make my parents drive me to Atlanta’s Hartsfield Airport (KATL) to watch the commercial aircraft and stood in awe as they seemed to defy the laws of gravity. I am an AvGeek myself and can’t wait to build on the AirlineGeeks brand.”
FMG has been very active in acquiring brands that service the general aviation industry. While commercial aviation and GA are often thought of as distinct and separate markets, they have become more interdependent in recent years.
Commercial pilots often start their careers as GA pilots, and many of them retain their love for flying in small GA aircraft their entire lives. GA is also a test bed for new technologies and airframes that eventually make their way into commercial applications. With the emergence of air taxis and urban air mobility offerings that will blend commercial with personal aviation, the two markets have never been more connected.
FMG is not just focused on the enthusiast side of the market but plans to use AirlineGeeks (airlinegeeks.com) as a foundation to build a premier business-to-business data, news, and market intelligence platform for the commercial aviation industry.
The global market size for the airline industry is more than $840 billion and is expected to grow by a compound annual rate of nearly 4 percent over the next decade.
“As people around the world become wealthier, they wish to travel,” said Fuller. “Commercial flight is unmatched in its ability to link the world and offer experiences that are only possible because of the efficiency of the global airline industry. Additionally, as supply chains continue to build resilience into their operations, global air cargo will experience exponential growth over the next few decades. This is what’s driving fast growth on an unprecedented scale.”

Eastern Michigan University Aviation Programs Earn Accreditation from Aviation Accreditation Board International
United States based Eastern Michigan University’s Aviation Programs, part of the University’s GameAbove College of Engineering and Technology, have earned accreditation from Aviation Accreditation Board International (AABI) through July 2028. The accreditation solidifies EMU’s position as a leading hub for aviation education and sets a benchmark for excellence in the field.
The AABI accreditation includes EMU Aviation’s two programs through the School of Technology and Professional Services Management, the B.S. in Flight Technology and the B.S. in Aviation Management Technology.
The Aviation Flight Technology program gives aviation flight students the skills, knowledge and FAA certifications for a successful aviation flight career. The Aviation Management Technology program focuses on providing aviation management students a balanced curriculum of business and airport management expertise.
With a 100% career placement rate, EMU students with aviation degrees are employed by airlines, aircraft manufacturers, the FAA, airport operators and air cargo/freight carriers, corporate aviation, airport operations, and airport organizations. Graduates become certified airline pilots, air traffic controllers, flight instructors, military pilots, airport operations managers, airline dispatchers, and airfield operations managers and directors.
The AABI serves as the official accrediting body for all collegiate aviation. Eastern joins only 44 other institutions with AABI accreditation. This recognition reflects EMU’s commitment to maintaining the highest standards of aviation education and preparing students for successful careers in the aviation industry.
Eastern’s strengths that led to the accreditation include:
- Quality program administration and dedicated faculty
- Comprehensive aviation curriculum for flight technology and management
- Partnership with flight provider – Crosswinds Aviation
- The addition of a Flight and Safety Coordinator position
“Receiving accreditation from AABI is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our faculty, staff, and students. This recognition affirms our commitment to providing quality aviation education that meets the highest industry standards,” said Mohamad Qatu, dean of the GameAbove College of Engineering and Technology. “This is a major step forward for our aviation programs which will bring additional opportunities for our students and excellent employment opportunities for our graduates. This is a significant addition to the college’s continuous pursuit of excellence. It will add to the other major accreditation for our programs in engineering, cybersecurity, construction management, interior design, and others,” Qatu added.
As the aviation industry continues to evolve and face new challenges, EMU’s accredited programs are well-positioned to adapt their curriculum and ensure that graduates are equipped with the skills and knowledge needed to excel in a dynamic and rapidly changing field.
“Securing the accreditation gives those interested in our programs an immediate sense of confidence in our Aviation department–great programs, excellent faculty, and dedicated students,” said Paul Majeske, professor and director of the School of Technology and Professional Services Management. “As we continue to build, providing exceptional aviation education and fostering the next generation of aviation leaders is our top priority.”
