Southeast Asian Regional Airline Signs Services Agreement with Embraer for Fleet Support of E195-E2

Embraer announced at Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace Exhibition (LIMA) that it has signed a long-term services agreement with SKS to support the airline’s 10 E195-E2 fleet. The contract provides access to the Pool Program, which includes component exchanges and repair services for more than 300 repairable parts to support SKS Airways’ Embraer aircraft, plus eSolutions to enhance fleet monitoring and preventive maintenance.

“The E2 delivers the best environmental efficiency and operating performance and the impressive data from our existing E-Jet customers prove it,” said Johann Bordais, President & CEO, Embraer Services & Support. “We are very pleased to have SKS join the Pool Program which will deliver great value for their operations.”

SKS Airways’ operations will benefit from the AHEAD (Aircraft Health Analysis and Diagnosis) which comprises early detection capabilities for critical systems, reducing technical interruptions and avoiding flight cancellations; the eSight, with real-time fleet performance monitoring; and the ePerf, a tablet application for pilots to generate runway performance data offline from the cockpit in any phase of flight.

Equipped with state-of-the-art features, the E195-E2 is the latest commercial aircraft in the aerospace industry to enter into service and is part of the E-Jets E2 family.

The E-Jets E2 family of aircraft, including the E195-E2 has the longest maintenance intervals in the single-aisle jet category – with 10,000 flight hours for basic checks and no calendar limit for typical E-Jet operations. This enables the aircraft to be operated with minimal downtime.

The Embraer Pool Program is designed to allow airlines to minimize their upfront investment in high-value repairable inventories and resources, while taking advantage of Embraer’s technical expertise along with its vast component repair service provider network. The results are significant savings on repair and inventory carrying costs, reduction in required warehousing space, and the virtual elimination of the need for resources required for repair management, while ultimately providing guaranteed performance levels. Currently, the Pool Program supports more than 50 airlines worldwide.

American Airlines Tech Ops Visits Spartan College to Demonstrate Virtual Reality Training Tools

American Airlines Technical Operations recently visited Tulsa Main Campus of United States headquartered aviation training group Spartan College of Aeronautics and Technology to demonstrate their virtual reality training tools that they use to further train their employees.

Some students were able to virtually sit in a 787 flight deck and go through checklists, while others completed a virtual pre-flight walk-around inspection. The day was completed with an interview preparation session, led by American Airlines’ training managers Michael Young and Vasin Settachan, to help Spartan students understand what it takes to meet the high American Airlines hiring standards.

The event was led by Kozetta Chapman, Senior Manager of Technical Operations Recruiting and Development for American Airlines, and Dan Bregman, Spartan EVP of Strategy and Development.

“We look forward to deepening our partnership to create something special for Spartan students and American Airlines,” said Spartan College.

In return for Seeing Machines granting perpetual exclusivity to Collins for Aviation and Space fields of use, Collins will make an upfront payment to the Company of US$3 million, with the additional US$7 million payable over the following two years. Further, Collins will pay Seeing Machines non-recurring engineering (NRE) payments to develop the solutions, evolving into potential future royalty payments as shipsets are released to customers.

Collins is accelerating innovation by bringing together the companies’ collective expertise in navigation, communication, sensor technology, flight controls and aviation system design. Pilot support solutions help to monitor and mitigate fatigue and reduce the potential for human error.

UK Aviation Training Group British School of Aviation Expands Offering with Part 147 Type Rating Approval For Airbus A320

London Luton Airport-based aviation – pilot and aircraft maintenance training organisation, The British School of Aviation (BSA), has expanded its operation, gaining UK CAA and EASA Part 147 type approval for the Airbus A320 family of aircraft.

With existing Part 147 approvals from the UK CAA (Civil Aviation Authority), EASA (European Aviation Safety Agency) and HKCAD (Hong Kong Civil Aviation Department) to train engineers on Boeing 787, 737NG and MAX, the new addition sees the company’s Maintenance, Training and Examination Organisation Approval Certificate amended to also incorporate Airbus A318, A319, A320 and A321 (CFM56).
