The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) of New Zealand, as shared by John Nicholson, CEO of Aviation New Zealand, in a newsletter, in the last five years issued rotary licenses to New Zealanders as summarized below:
- 2018 – 32 CPL and 66 PPL
- 2019 – 45 CPL and 54 PPL
- 2020 – 29 CPL and 35 PPL
- 2021 – 31 CPL and 58 PPL
- 2022 – 41 CPL and 53 PPL
According to Nicholson, there is contrasting outlooks in the rotary industry: “Optimism on the part of the manufacturers looking to sell more helicopters, but concern that industry is not generating the number of pilots to fly them and engineers to maintain them.”
