British Airways recently released its social media usage guidelines after which the UK’s flag carrier received a backlash. The airline clarified its intention behind the new guidelines saying: “We’re not stopping colleagues from posting on social media – quite the opposite. We’ve simply refreshed our existing guidelines, giving our people – our biggest ambassadors – more clarity about what’s appropriate. E.g. no photos when carrying out safety critical or customer-focused tasks.” The updated list includes anything shot in the flight deck, which requires prior permission from the company.
