Atlântica – Instituto Universitário announced its latest partnership with International Flight Academy (IFA) to further the Portuguese aviation sector, by offering specifically designed programs to students, under attractive conditions. Atlântica is proud to be the single university in Portugal with BSc, MSc and PhD degrees programs devoted to civil aviation/aeronautics.

US High School Awards Flight Training Scholarship to Seven Students

Cumberland County High School awarded flight training scholarships to seven students that will cover flight training costs until they obtain their Commercial Pilot Licenses. Approximately $15,000 is allotted to each scholar. This marks the third round of scholarships granted by the Tennessee Department of Education through the Innovative High School Models Grant. An estimated $974,100 was rewarded to Cumberland County Schools. 

“Our goal initially was to license 45 students. We’re not sure if we’re going to hit that mark because it’s a growing process,” said Scott Maddox, the school system’s director of Career and Technical Education.

Also, the school partners with Azure Flight Support who will provide career path to students who do not have enough funds to cover pilot training costs.

Epic Flight Academy’s COO and Director of the Aircraft Mechanic Program Awarded NBAA Award in Maintenance

The United States National Business Aviation Association (NBAA) has recognized Epic Flight Academy’s Chief Operating Officer and Director of the Aircraft Mechanic Program Josh Rawlins as the 2022 Business Aviation Top 40 Under 40 Award Recipient in the Maintenance Category.

Rawlins began his career in aviation at the age of 19 at Epic Flight Academy. He started by sweeping hangars and soon began an apprenticeship as an aircraft mechanic. He became an A&P mechanic and earned his inspection authorization. Rawlins soon became lead mechanic before being promoted to Director of Maintenance. He ultimately became a VP at the company and in 2015 was promoted to Chief Operating Officer.

For the next several years, he worked to establish an FAA Part 147 school at Epic, which launched just as the pandemic was disrupting the world. Nevertheless, Rawlins, persevered, and the aircraft mechanic program he directs is now thriving.

“We have graduated 12 students from our 19-month program so far,” Rawlins said. “There are currently 59 students enrolled. We start new classes three times per year, offering General Aviation, Airframe, and Powerplant.”

Epic founder and CEO Danny Perna said, “We are truly grateful to the NBAA for recognizing Josh’s efforts in the field of aviation maintenance. He is the kind of person that gives 100% in all endeavors. We are all incredibly proud of him. Epic Flight Academy was established in 1999 with locations in New Smyrna Beach and Ocala, Florida. The NBAA was founded in 1947 and is based in Washington D.C.

Sharjah, United Arab Emirates based T3 Aviation Academy has received its IATA certificate of authorisation as an approved IATA Training Centre at this year’s Air Portugal Summit held in Ponte de Sor, Portugal.

The certificate was awarded as part of the IATA Global Training Conference 2022 Gala Dinner and Awarding Ceremony in Ponte de Sor by IATA Training’s Director, Stéphanie Siouffi-Vareilhes.

As an IATA Authorised Training Centre, T3 Aviation Academy looks to start offering a high volume of in-demand training courses that are certified by IATA, targeting the Middle East, African, and European regions where the demand for such courses is on the rise.  

The move to become an IATA ATC comes in line with the Academy’s vision to be an all-encompassing 360-degree aviation and academic training organisation provisioning to all sectors of the aviation industry.  

The courses that will be offered with IATA’s certification include but are not limited to Airline Customer Service, Passenger Ground Services, Social Media Strategy for the Travel Industry, Ground Operations Management, and Airport Operations Fundamentals, in addition to other aviation-related courses.
