Global Flight Training Group Airways Aviation Enrols Latest July 2025 Batch in India

India – Global flight training group Airways Aviation, which operates pilot training academies across Europe, the Middle East, Asia, and India, has shared that its base in India – Airways Aviation India has welcomed a new cohort of students into its Aviation Foundation Course.

  • New students have enrolled in Airways Aviation India’s DGCA-approved Aviation Foundation Course, which offers a structured pathway towards commercial pilot training and one of Airways Aviation’s global flight training bases (with especially Australia being preferred by students).

  • The course includes expert-led ground school classes aligned with DGCA standards and integrates elements from Airways Aviation’s globally recognized curriculum.

Global Pilot Training Group Skyborne Welcomes New IndiGo Cadets in July 2025

India & USA – Skyborne, a global pilot training group which operates flight training bases in the United Kingdom and the United States, has welcomed five (5) new cadets in its flight training campus in Vero Beach, Florida.

Following flight training at the academy’s base in Florida, United States the cadets will return to India for their flight license conversion and type rating. After successfully completing the program, the graduates will go on to fly with India’s leading airline as A320 First Officers.

Rina Basu, Regional Director (Asia Pacific), Skyborne, shared in April: “Since Skyborne’s partnership with IndiGo began in 2019, we’ve supported India’s aviation industry in meeting workforce demand and tackling pilot shortages. Now, with our largest intake ever, we’re proud to continue supplying IndiGo with passionate and bright cadets who are committed to becoming highly skilled commercial pilots.”

Earlier in the year, in April, Skyborne had welcomed its largest IndiGo intake to date with 40 new cadets joining the IndiGo Cadet Pilot Program, after a Letter of Intent (LoI) ceremony in Gurgaon, India.

DGCA Issues July 2025 Circular Requiring Certified Safety Managers at Indian FTOs

India – The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has issued Flying Training Circular 02 of 2025, dated July 3, 2025, mandating the appointment of dedicated Safety Managers and SMS Trainers across all DGCA-approved Flying Training Organizations (FTOs). The circular enhances India’s aviation safety oversight by aligning domestic training practices with ICAO Annex 19 and DOC 9859 standards.

  • All DGCA-approved FTOs must now appoint a dedicated Safety Manager, who cannot concurrently hold any other position within the organization.

  • The Safety Manager must:

    • Have at least one year of aviation experience

    • Hold an SMS certification

    • Be approved through an oral assessment conducted by DGCA

  • Core responsibilities include:

    • Implementation and maintenance of the Safety Management System (SMS)

    • Safety data collection, flight data monitoring, and risk assessments

    • Emergency drill execution and response planning

    • Dissemination of safety goals and continuous safety promotion

  • Approval will be granted for up to two years via the eGCA portal, subject to passing an oral exam on DGCA regulations, ICAO guidance, and internal FTO procedures.

  • SMS Trainers must have:

    • A minimum of two years of experience as a Safety Manager

    • Successfully completed a Train the Trainer course

    • SMS training aligned with Appendix B of CAR Section-1, Series-C, Part I
