US Aviation Academy Crosses 170 Enrolments in 2024 for A&P Mechanic Training

Texas – United States based US Aviation Academy (USAA), one of the largest aviation and pilot training organizations in North America which recently announced a partnership with Frontier Airlines to Launch a Transitioning Military Technician Pathway Program, has shared that as of June 2024 it had already enrolled over 170 individuals to it’s A&P Mechanic Training courses.

USAA’s aircraft maintenance technician training takes place across 4 campuses including Denton, Texas, San Marcos, Texas, Atlanta, Georgia and Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Back in February 2024 Delta Air Lines announced a new partnership with US Aviation Academy with their expansion of their Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) Mechanic Training into Atlanta, Georgia. This strategic collaboration marked a significant step forward in aviation training and education, aiming to cultivate the next generation of skilled aviation mechanics essential for the industry’s future. The new training campus, situated in the heart of Atlanta in Forest Park, would leverage US Aviation Academy’s extensive expertise in aviation maintenance education and Delta Air Lines’ industry-leading practices to provide an unparalleled learning experience.

“Job Title: Theoretical Knowledge Instructor (ATPL Ground School Instructor)

Position Type: Part-Time (Onsite / remote work may be possible)

Location: University of the West Indies, Cave Hill Campus, Barbados

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Instruct specialist ATPL(A) Theoretical Knowledge Instruction subject to standards as defined by the Chief Theoretical Knowledge Instructor (CTKI), for up to 4 subjects.
  • Actively remain up to date with technological advances, regulatory changes and general content of the applicable subject(s).
  • Familiarize yourself to expert-level with the Academy’s Learning Management System (LMS) or any other Digital Learning/Teaching tools.
  • As responsible TKI, monitor, track and evaluate the progress of students using the LMS or Digital Learning Tools and report accordingly to the CTKI or Training Manager Theory any concerns regarding the student’s performance and learning curve.
  • Meet the required instructional standards at each standardization review as defined by the CTKI.
  • Maintain a high standard of student reports, assessments, and records.
  • Pastoral care and counseling of students as appropriate.
  • Perform remedial training where required in close consultation with the responsible CTKI or Training Manager theory.
  • Contribute to and undertake responsibilities as ‘Subject Matter Expert’ and ‘Mentorship’ as required by the CTKI or Training Manager Theory.
  • Support the Academy to achieve overall customer service standards.

Education and Experience

  •  Bachelor’s degree (or higher) or relevant experience preferably related to the subject-to- teach or general field of educational sciences.
  • Academic background related to the applicable subject(s) is a plus.
  • To have or have held a pilot license is a plus.
  • Being a former student of CAE FTO is a plus.
  • Previous experience as an instructor, mentor and/or coach.
  • Extensive background in aviation training.
  • Extensive operational experience in aviation – airline background or military background would be significant added value.
  • Experience as TKI would be significant added value.

  • Report any training and or compliance issue to the Chief Theoretical Knowledge Instructor (CTKI).
  • Ensure adequate number of qualified instructors are readily available to deliver all planned training activities.
  • Manage any Clients and or instructor performance issues.
  • Oversee the progression of all students, using the digital learning platform as part of the Multi Engine CPL(A) Instrument Rating (A) Theoretical Knowledge course and ensure any issues are addressed in the form of additional tutorial or advice as required.
  • Contribute and assist in the development of Theoretical Knowledge Instruction materials (new and existing) as appropriate to a quality standard as defined by the CTKI.
  • Be part of the active team of Theoretical Knowledge Instructors and deliver a range of theoretical subjects, if qualifications permit.
  • Other duties as required by the CTKI.
  • Support the Training Organization and participates in regional projects.
  • Ensures efficient scheduling and maximize usage of resources.
  • Oversee the program scheduling function to ensure compliance with ATO approval / customer contract.
  • Follow up on customer surveys and implement improvements, when necessary, based on the feedback.
  • To hold and document Instructor meetings as detailed in the ATO manual.
  • Representing the CTKI and Accountable Manager in building and ensuring a solid relationship with existing and potential customers.
  • Hire and train consultant instructors in accordance with defined processes and standards.
  • Responsible for performing annual performance reviews of direct reporting staff.
  • Establish & maintain the trust & support of colleagues, the members of the department and management.
  • Conduct regular meetings with the overall team and management staff.
  • Create a clear, customer-centric vision for the programs & communicate it to training staff and training supporting functions/departments.
  • Ensure that training equipment is according to standard as required by the training to be conducted.
  • Manage ground training operations- set clear objectives.
  • Identifying client needs & establishing user requirements.
  • Identifying opportunities to improve the delivery of training to our clients and report back to the Centre Leader and CTKI.

 Education and Minimum Experience

  • Post Graduate Certificate in Education.
  • Educated to degree level preferably bachelor’s level.
  • Taught ATPL theory subjects previously within large, professional flight academy.
  • Relevant aviation/instructional qualifications advantageous”
