France headquartered ALSIM proudly celebrates its remarkable 30-year journey. This leading French-based manufacturer has established itself as a prime developer and manufacturer of FAA and EASA certified FNPTII, FNPTII MCC, and AATD flight simulators. Over those three decades it has built up a global reach extending to more than 400 customers and has already delivered more than 450 certified simulators across 60 countries.
The journey began in 1994 with a visionary concept of creating and offering state-of-the-art flight training devices at affordable prices. The objective was clear; to develop a versatile simulator that could be utilized for various aircraft types, while keeping costs within reach of even the smallest flight schools. This idea led to a continuous stream of innovative products, beginning with the introduction of TFT screens on simulators in 1997—an industry first pioneered by ALSIM.
Recognizing the growing importance of multi-crew cooperation (MCC) in the airline industry towards the end of the last century, ALSIM responded by developing a simulator exclusively designed to enhance pilot confidence and competence in a multi-crew working environment. In 1999 the company achieved a milestone with the sale of its first MCC trainer, laying the foundation for future innovations.
In the early 2000s, Diamond Aircraft emerged as a leading innovative player in the aviation training market. ALSIM promptly responded and, working closely with the OEM, successfully launched the AL42 in 2005—a faithful replica of the Diamond DA42 twin-engine training aircraft. Dedicated to their continuous quest for innovation and improvement, the ALSIM research and development team then conceived and manufactured an entirely new device which can replicate ten different aircraft models, thereby providing training capabilities from PPL up to MCC/JOC. Thus, the remarkable ALX was born and introduced in 2008.
In early 2016, ALSIM revisited its founding principle of creating cost-effective, versatile flight training devices, resulting in the creation of the AL250—a compact simulator adaptable for SEP/MEP training on the PPL, CPL, and IR/ME levels. Just a year later, in 2017, ALSIM unveiled their second type-specific device for a classic training aircraft, the Cessna 172 Skyhawk.
Innovation is very strongly embedded in the DNA, and in 2020 further evidence of that was shown when ALSIM was proudly presented their latest achievements – “The Airliner” and the brand-new ALSR20—an exact replica of the Cirrus SR20 aircraft. “The Airliner” is a multi-purpose hybrid (B737/A320) simulator, designed to cater to the demands of advanced MCC and APS MCC training as delivered by medium to large ATOs. A partnership with Cirrus Aircraft also ensures that the ALSR20 matches the ongoing evolution of the aircraft.

Global flight training group Airways Aviation, which operates pilot training academies across Europe, the Middle East, Asia and Oceanic region has welcomed as part of the team, Professor Miguel Moreira.
From Portuguese origin, Prof. Moreira is a respected scholar and well-known in the aviation training and education area, bringing 20+ years of experience in developing bachelor’s and master’s degrees in the field of Civil Aviation, he holds a PhD in Astrophysics and is also an EASA PPL(A) pilot.
He is currently Associate Professor at Atlântica – Instituto Universitário in Lisbon (Portugal), where he coordinates the bachelor’s degree in Aviation Management.
Prof. Moreira will integrate Airways Aviation global team as Business Developer Manager – Academic Partnerships, making the link between high schools, universities, and other education institutions with our organization, helping them create new programs and improve the existing ones. It will fill a key position in the development of the aviation education strategy set out by Airways Aviation globally.
Some of Prof. Moreira’s previous experience:
a) Founding member of the Technical Committee (CT190) for Aviation, Space and Defence of the Portuguese Quality Institute.
b) Former Director of Development and Programs, as well as Quality Manager, at the G Air Training Center (an EASA ATO acquired by L3 Harris in 2018) in Ponte de Sor, Portugal.

d) President of the Conference Organizing Committee of Portugal Air Summit, the largest aeronautical event in the Iberian Peninsula.

f) Director of the Aviation School of ISEC Lisboa University.

This is reflected in the selection day for flight attendants, while soft skills for pilots is understood slightly different since they are flying the plane,” states Jainita Hogervorst, Director of Aerviva Aviation Consultancy, a Dubai-based international consultancy specialising in aviation recruitment and document management. “For pilots, the ability to stay calm under pressure, offer clear communication, and be creative in solving problems,” are a few soft skills needed Hogervorst clarifies. As such, airlines have online platforms, but pilots and crew still need to put in training time in person or during personal time learning via an external provider. A study conducted by the International Air Transport Association (IATA) in 2022 found that 85% of aviation professionals believed that upskilling was essential for career progression. Furthermore, 68% of aviation companies reported that they had already invested significantly in upskilling their workforce.
Accessibility and Convenience
One of the primary advantages of digital education is its accessibility worldwide and reduced training costs of up to 40%. “Digital education platforms often offer personalized learning experiences, allowing aviation professionals to focus on their specific areas of improvement,” notes Hogervorst. A study conducted by FlightGlobal found that pilots who used personalized digital learning modules improved their knowledge retention rates by 25% compared to traditional classroom instruction.
Improved Safety Training
Digital education provides interactive and immersive modules that enhance safety training, ensuring aviation professionals are well-prepared to handle emergencies and unexpected situations. According to Airline Pilot Forums 84% of pilots believe that e-learning courses on safety procedures have improved their preparedness for emergencies. Meanwhile, Flight Global reports that digital education modules can reduce training time by up to 30% compared to traditional classroom training. The efficiency of digital education allows pilots and flight attendants to complete their training in less time, allowing them to return to their duties sooner. However, with a lack of engagement, technical issues, and difficulty in monitoring flight attendant participation, virtual training is less successful and less well-liked than classroom training, with the main advantage being the flexibility it gives. While virtual training can be modified to increase effectiveness, classroom training is more dynamic and communication functions better.
Compliance and Certification
The IATA states that 95% of flight attendants are required to complete regular e-learning modules to ensure compliance with safety and security regulations. Digital education ensures that it is not only pilots but also flight attendants who meet regulatory requirements, helping them maintain their certifications and licenses. Additionally, many digital education platforms offer courses in multiple languages, catering to the diverse backgrounds of cabin crew members ensuring they receive training in a language they are comfortable with. While statistics showcase the tangible benefits of digital education in enhancing the knowledge, skills, and safety of aviation professionals, a combination of digital learning and traditional methods remains the most effective way to prepare pilots and flight attendants.
