Simulator Training Center BAA Training Spain Adds Another B737MAX Simulator Ready for Training

Barcelona, Spain based full flight simulator training center BAA Training Spain (part of global pilot training group BAA Training and aviation conglomerate Avia Solutions Group) has shared that a a new Boeing 737 MAX flight training device (FTD Level 2) has joined the fleet of four flight simulation training devices at the training facility, bringing the total number of simulators to five.

Aurimas Urbonas, Managing Director of BAA Training Spain, says: “Given the significance of the Boeing 737 MAX aircraft in the aviation industry, we anticipate strong demand for training to learn to operate this particular aircraft type. Therefore, the addition of the Boeing 737 MAX FTD Level 2 to our training center reaffirms our dedication to providing cutting-edge training solutions and meeting the evolving needs of the industry.

The new Boeing 737 MAX FTD Level 2 stands out as one of the few devices in Europe to hold Level 2 certification, signifying a higher level of fidelity and functionality compared to lower-level devices. Its cockpit, visual system and software mirror those of a full flight simulator (FFS), ensuring an identical training environment for pilots. BAA Training Spain now has two devices of this type, with the A320 FTD Level 2 being the other one.

These Level 2 FTDs strike a balance between fidelity and cost-effectiveness, making them valuable tools for pilot training that closely simulate real-world flight operations. Since they bear lower operational costs due to consuming less energy and requiring less maintenance than FFSs, they ensure cost-effectiveness for airlines.

Pilots can practice the same scenarios as in an FFS with the same level of fidelity, including all normal, abnormal, and emergency procedures in any weather conditions. Additionally, the new device will be used to complete up to 20% of Type Rating as well as MCC and other ATOP training.
