CAE Discusses the Development of Aeronautical Radio Incorporated Guidelines for the Simulator Industry
CAE welcomed representatives from the Flight Simulator Engineering and Maintenance Committee (FSEMC) – Software Load Release (SLR) workgroup to develop the Aeronautical Radio Incorporated (ARINC) guidelines for the Flight Simulator Training Device industry. The outcomes of these discussions will help airlines and training centres to facilitate qualifications and receive timely software updates. CAE’s participation in these forums ensures that their software-product deliveries align perfectly with customer expectations.
CAE thanked all participants such as Airbus, Boeing, American Airlines, Southwest Airlines, Alaska Airlines, Lufthansa Aviation Training Group and SAE Industry Technologies Consortia.

European Full Flight Simulator Training Center Places Order for New Business Jet FFS
AXIS Flight Training Systems, an innovation leader in full flight simulators, has taken an order for a new Bombardier Challenger 350 simulator from Aviation Academy Austria. The simulator will also be able to train pilots for the Challenger 3500.
AXIS Flight Training Systems is adding to its installed base of Bombardier simulators with a new full flight simulator for the popular Challenger 350. This new Level D full flight simulator features a Rockwell Collins Pro Line 21 Advanced avionics system and a Van Halteren motion system, the first time AXIS has built a VHT system into one of its simulators. A head-up display can be added at a later date, enabling training for the new Challenger 3500. The new FFS is slated to be ready for training in September 2024, at which time it will be the 6th AXIS simulator in operation at Aviation Academy Austria.
Aviation Academy Austria CEO Michael Holy said, “To meet the growing training demand of operators, we decided to expand our portfolio to the mid-size business aircraft market. Knowing the high fidelity and reliability of the five AXIS units we already operate, this purchase was a logical next step. We’ve had a good relationship with AXIS for many years. This purchase will be a valuable addition to our other sims, providing new opportunities to customers from Europe, Asia and the Middle East.”
Aviation Academy Austria is continuing its growth path with its philosophy of providing individual training solutions for air operators and private individuals alike. The range of services includes ATO courses, as well as tailored instruction for operator recurrent training. Additionally, all simulators are available for dry lease.
AXIS developed and integrated all models for the new simulator. The requisite data was gathered in a flight test campaign with the actual aircraft. The simulator meets all requirements pursuant to EASA CSFSTD(A) Issue 2 FFS Level D.
AXIS CEO Niall Olver said, “We are quickly expanding our portfolio of bizjet simulators. The Bombardier Challenger 350 is an important type and we’re excited to be adding it. And naturally it’s always rewarding to get repeat business; it lets us know we’re on the right track.”

The first CAE locations to adopt Boeing’s curriculum will be in India, with expansion anticipated into additional global markets. Boeing is implementing the CBTA curriculum through its global training campuses in Seattle, Miami, London-Gatwick, Shanghai, and Singapore, as well as at customer locations worldwide.
