Flight Simulator Manufacturer AXIS Flight Simulation Qualifies Mainland Europe’s First Level-D CL350 FFS
Vienna, Austria, 6 August 2024 – Leading provider of flight training solutions AXIS Flight Simulation is announcing the successful qualification of its Level-D Bombardier Challenger CL350 Full Flight Simulator (FFS) for Aviation Academy Austria. The qualification marks AXIS Flight Simulation’s first Level-D CL350 FFS and will be the first of its kind to operate in mainland Europe.
The FFS is equipped with a Van Halteren motion system and RSi XT6 visual system, with a 200×45 field of view (FOV), as well as the Collins Pro Line 21 Advanced avionics system. Optional features include Controller–Pilot Data Link Communications (CPDLC), a Synthetic Vision Systems (SVS) and steep approach capability.
Achieving Level-D certification involved comprehensive flight testing conducted in collaboration with Aeroset, during which flight data was gathered to ensure the highest standards of simulation accuracy.

We plan to add an auto-throttle to enable the academy’s pilots to practice flying the new Bombardier Challenger 3500 aircraft, while using our CL350 FFS.”

Aviation Academy Austria’s newly qualified Level D CL350 simulator is now available for training and dry lease, extending flight training capabilities near Vienna, Austria.

Flight Training Alliance Deploys an Airbus A220 FFS to Rome, Italy in 2024
Rome (Italy), August 5, 2024 – Flight Training Alliance (FTA), a joint venture between Lufthansa Aviation Training and CAE, and an Airbus Authorized Training Provider, inaugurated a state-of-the-art CAE-built 7000XR Airbus A220 full-flight simulator (FFS). This latest generation FFS is designed to replicate the flight characteristics and systems of the Airbus A220 and will be located at the ITA Airways Flight Centre at Rome Fiumicino International Airport.
Equipped with high-fidelity visuals, an immersive cockpit environment, and realistic flight dynamics, the simulator will serve as a critical training tool for ITA Airways pilots, ensuring they are thoroughly prepared to operate the aircraft safely and efficiently. The simulator is also available to train other A220 customers of FTA.
