Southeast Asian Pilot Training Group, AAG Philippines, Welcomes 10 New A320 Type Rating Trainees

Five (5) cadets belonging to batches 42, 45 & 46 of Alpha Aviation Group’s (AAG) Airline Pilot Program (APP) and five (5) CPL holders who graduated from other pilot schools were inducted into the First Officer Transition (FOT) Program on 29 August 2023, signifying the culmination of their intensive training before their official transition to first officers.

“You’ve made the right decision to opt for a type rating now and choosing AAG as your training institution. In the world of aviation, continuous learning is essential, and we’re here to support you throughout your journey,” shared Capt. Anthony Tan (AAGP Head of Training) in his welcome remarks.

Capt. Rizalindo Gigante (AAGP Synthetic Flight Instructor) also extended his greetings to the trainees, highlighting the importance of humility and kindness. “As a pilot, you’ll encounter different situations that will test your knowledge, values, skills, and attitude. Learn to step out of your comfort zone, for it is through these challenges that profound learning occurs,” he added.

Designed in line with ICAO’s Competency Based Training and Assessment (CBTA) principles, AAG’s FOT Program aims to develop the students’ pilot competencies, achieved by ensuring a holistic approach involving our team of competent instructors and utilizing cutting-edge training devices and resources.

Pilot Training Strategic Planning and Forecasting Tool Aeroplanned Reflects on Growth

Jen Liddle, Co-Founder of Aeroplanned a fast growing strategic planning and forecasting tool for the pilot training industry reflected on her recent attendance of the 19th Asia Pacific Airline Training Symposium;

The week also allowed us at Aeroplanned to reflect on how far we’ve come since the last conference we attended in Orlando back in April. It’s been incredible to witness the growing interest in our software and we’re thrilled to be on the radar of industry professionals and organisations alike. It meant I didn’t get much of a chance to attend the presentations at the conference this time around, but the one I did get to was again highlighting staggering statistics about the looming pilot shortage. How can the industry keep up with those numbers?

Part of the problem is not understanding the size of the problem – there’s currently very little data available to determine the throughput of pilots through the training pipeline. We’re only a new company, but we are already starting to generate this information on a small scale – flight training schools through to their partner airlines with accuracy and transparency. It’s pretty exciting to think about the visibility we can provide as we grow and gather larger datasets!
