Simulator Manufacturer, Simnest Aviation, Debuts to the Asian Market at APATS

After eight years of outstanding success in Europe, Simnest Aviation is expanding its operations to the Asia Pacific region. The first stop will be the APATS, the largest aviation training event in the region, being held in August in Singapore.

After shifting the focus of the successful company, which fostered and supported independent R&D projects, solely to FSTD development and manufacturing in 2015, with FNPT II APS MCC simulators, based on the Airbus A320 aircraft, Simnest Aviation has quickly become a well-known player in the European pilot training market.

“Thanks to the excellent value for money of our tools, their simple, technician-free operation and, last but not least, its realistic A320 environment and behavior, we have since installed a total of sixteen certified simulators in six countries across Europe,” said Simnest. Our products are now renowned not only in Europe, but also on other continents of the world, with the result that we are receiving more and more enquiries from the Asia Pacific region.

In response to market needs and to ensure the continued growth of the company, Simnest Aviation is expanding its activities to the Asian market. Simnest’s first in-person presentation in Asia will take place at the largest aviation training event in the region, APATS in Singapore at the end of August. At their stand 207 at APATS, Simnest will be showcasing their flagship product, the Airbus A320 FNPT II APS MCC simulator, as well as its “little brother”, their brand-new product, the Airbus A320 Lite AATD.

From a pilot training perspective, one of the biggest advantages of the FNPT II APS MCC simulator is that it is suited for APS MCC training, which provides cadets with most of the knowledge and competencies that airlines are looking for in their candidates. While the AATD device offers the same airliner environment at a much more affordable price, without an enclosed cockpit and instructor’s box and with an ultra-wide or two smaller displays instead of the high-definition laser projectors and the hi-gain white screen visual system of the FNPT II APS MCC simulator.

At APATS, Simnest will be presenting both their products in detail, and in addition to the usual delicious coffee and giveaways, Simnest prepares a special surprise for this exhibition: everyone who visits their booth #207 will receive a special discount on products exclusively for APATS participants.

With AVIATIZE, flight schools can actually start looking to optimize their operations and to increase overall bottomline and efficiency by having the data from key processes in one application. AVIATIZE is not just a scheduling software. It combines scheduling with student progress and grading, indepth maintenance planning, safety, real-time compliance, digital libraries, billing, reporting, and so on. Robert Renfro, COO of Kilo Charlie Aviation says “There are very few specialists in the flight training industry in terms of technology, and AVIATIZE is one of them. The level of customization and integrations that they provide simply does not exist for mid and large size flight schools. It is exactly what we are looking for to provide deeper optimization of our business and connectivity for our students. In fact, if we wanted to make the ideal solution for ourselves, it would probably have looked like AVIATIZE.”

US University, Embry-Riddle, Selects SERA and Pilot PT for Aviation English and Virtual Reality Training

Advanced Simulation Technology inc. (ASTi) welcomes the world-renowned Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University as a customer for its Simulated Environment for Realistic ATC (SERA®) product. ASTi is supplying eight SERA cloud instances to Embry-Riddle, which powers its new courseware with ASTi technology. The Pre-flight Immersion Laboratory for Operations Training (PILOT) program focuses on aviation English, addressing a recently identified FAA concern covering the broad spectrum of aviation communication skills.

Launched in fall 2021, PILOT is an evidence-based approach that saves flight students time and money. The first group of 58 flight students reduced their first solo flight times by more than 30 percent, thanks to this first-of-its-kind general aviation flight training program.

“Students who go through our new training program are better prepared when they step into an airplane. They also have lower anxiety and greater confidence due to their experience and understanding of what to expect in the aircraft,” said Dr. Ken Byrnes, chair of the Flight Department at Embry-Riddle’s Daytona Beach, Florida campus.

ASTi tools are a critical element of PILOT’s virtual Air Traffic Control (ATC) lab. The Pilot Phraseology Trainer (Pilot PT™) is a web-based tool that uses in-house speech recognition and ASTi’s advanced text-to-speech system focused on aviation English. Students rehearse the fundamental elements of aviation English and standard phraseology, completing communication exchanges with multiple controllers. Now they can practice radio calls at their own pace, focusing on repetitive listening and speaking accuracy with simulated ATC.

A key differentiator of Pilot PT is ASTi’s ability to customize it based on customer input, such as the local region’s standard operating procedures and specific course requirements. Even better, students can access this innovative technology through any web-connected device—including smartphones, tablets, laptops and desktop computers. Combine all these factors together, and you have a powerful tool that teaches students solid aviation English.

Moving on to the final stage of radio training, students enter a virtual reality flight on a flight training device, where they can test their skills with SERA. SERA’s AI entities role-play ATC, reacting to trainees throughout the flight and correcting them when they make mistakes.

SERA provides one cohesive platform for students and instructors alike. The phraseology and radio calls students learn using Pilot PT matches what they hear in a SERA flight, providing a consistent training experience. Students’ flight histories and performance metrics are in one place, which means instructors don’t need to jump between tools to collect data. Available 24/7, SERA empowers students to build confidence and competence while enhancing safety, reducing costs, and minimizing wasted time due to poor radio telephony.
