JFJ Aviation and Defence Teams Up with Vrgineers to Develop the Most Advanced Unrestricted 5th Generation Fighter Simulator

Austria – JFJ Aviation & Defence GmbH is proud to announce a strategic partnership with Czech-US technology company Vrgineers to co-develop an unrestricted version of a 5th Generation Fighter Simulator, setting a new benchmark in immersive pilot training and defense simulation.

The simulator cockpit will feature Vrgineers’ proprietary electronics and will be fully integrated with the Somnium VR1 and XTAL CAVU mixed-reality systems. This cutting-edge setup will support advanced pilot simulation, mission rehearsal, and technology demonstration in a fully immersive environment.

This marks the first direct collaboration between JFJ and Vrgineers, combining their respective strengths to deliver affordable, high-fidelity simulation solutions to defense and aerospace customers. The partnership aims to accelerate innovation by leveraging shared expertise in cockpit design, mixed-reality integration, and simulation hardware.

“We are excited to collaborate with Vrgineers on this innovative training setup,” said Dipl.-Ing. Dr. Johann Schwandtner, Managing Director of JFJ Aviation & Defence GmbH. “This cockpit is part of our expanding portfolio of custom-built enclosures designed to meet the evolving demands of simulation platforms across NATO and allied countries.”

The project reflects both companies’ commitment to modernizing the simulation market, which has long relied on legacy technologies such as flat screens and basic projection systems. By introducing unrestricted mixed-reality capabilities, the simulator will offer pilots a more realistic and responsive training experience.

“This partnership brings together two highly experienced teams that complement each other in remarkable ways,” said Marek Polčák, CEO of Vrgineers. “We are looking forward to unveiling this and other next-generation simulators that will emerge from our joint efforts.”

The unrestricted 5th Generation Fighter Simulator is expected to debut at upcoming defense exhibitions, where it will showcase the future of pilot training and operational readiness.

Acron Aviation Secures Waterfront Headquarters in Downtown St. Petersburg, Florida

USA – Acron Aviation, a world-leading provider of avionics, pilot training, and flight data intelligence solutions, announced it has signed a long-term lease agreement for its new global head office at City Center in downtown St. Petersburg, Florida.

The move, which includes Acron Aviation taking the top of building signage, scheduled for the first quarter of 2026, marks a significant milestone in the company’s growth strategy. The new head office will serve Acron Aviation’s worldwide operations, including executive leadership, HR, engineering, and customer support in a waterfront location designed to foster innovation and collaboration.

The lease follows the completion of a multi-million-dollar renovation at City Center earlier this year, a transformation that modernized the 242,115-square-foot property and reinforced its position as one of the most desirable office destinations in Tampa Bay.

Alan Crawford, Chief Executive Officer, Acron Aviation said: “St. Petersburg’s vibrant business community, access to talent, and stunning waterfront setting make it the perfect home for our next chapter.” Crawford continued, “our new head office will give us the space, resources, and environment to accelerate our ambitious growth plans to become the unconventional partner of choice to operators in the aviation industry.”

The company’s relocation reflects its commitment to investing in both its people and the communities where it operates. By establishing its global head office in St. Petersburg, Acron Aviation aims to attract top-tier talent, strengthen partnerships, and contribute to the city’s continued economic growth.

Larry Feldman, Feldman Equities LLC said: “Located in the heart of downtown, City Center offers unparalleled connectivity, proximity to Tampa Bay’s growing tech and aerospace ecosystem, and sweeping views of the Gulf Coast waterfront.” Feldman added, “Acron Aviation’s new space will feature modern design elements, advanced training simulators, and collaborative work areas to support its teams and clients.”

City Center’s recent renovation introduced a redesigned atrium lobby, a new fitness center with premium equipment and wellness amenities, a state-of-the-art conference center, the Bean Wandering coffee and sandwich bar, and upgraded exterior entrances, all designed to elevate the tenant experience.

TRU Simulation’s Veris Virtual Reality Flight Simulator Achieves FAA Qualification

USA – TRU Simulation + Training Inc., a Textron Inc. company, and an affiliate of Bell Textron Inc., announced its cutting-edge Veris Virtual Reality Flight Simulator received Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) qualification. Now qualified as a Level 7 Flight Training Device (FTD), the Veris is also designed to meet European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) FTD Level 3 standards, with EASA qualification expected later this year. This milestone further solidifies TRU Simulation’s position as an industry leader in developing advanced, high-fidelity Full Flight Simulators (FFS) and FTDs.

First unveiled at VERTICON 2024, the Veris is a clean-sheet design focused on efficiency, combining industry-leading features of an FFS with immersive virtual reality technology to empower pilots to navigate the skies confidently. The Veris provides helicopter and fixed-wing model customers with a more cost-effective and innovative solution for pilot training.

“At TRU Simulation, our mission is to empower pilots and training providers with the most advanced and accessible tools available,” said Jerry Messaris, vice president and general manager, TRU Simulation. “The Veris delivers cutting-edge, cost-effective flight training through a compact VR platform – revolutionizing how pilots train across business aviation, rotorcraft and military markets.”

Bell Training Academy (BTA) has been named the launch customer and will be the first to use the Veris for training on the Bell 505 helicopter. BTA is a state-of-the-art facility that occupies 100,000 square feet of classroom, lab and hangar space.

“Being the launch customer for the Veris for the Bell 505 is an honor for the Bell Training Academy,” said Chad Sparks, general manager, Bell Training Academy. “We are dedicated to providing the most advanced and comprehensive training solutions, and the Veris will greatly enhance the realism and effectiveness of our programs. We celebrate this milestone with TRU Simulation and look forward to continuing our collaboration to keep our customers on their missions.”

The Bell 505 is one of the most technologically advanced platforms in its class and continues to draw attendance around the globe for training many generations of military and civilian helicopter pilots.

The Veris includes a fully electric six degrees-of-freedom motion base to produce accurate flight cues and vibrations. It also leverages the same flight data, software baselines and advanced technologies such as TRU’s REALFeel control loading system found in its Level FFSs, providing realistic flight control sensations and experience in a virtual world. Tactile cockpit panels allow the pilot to interact with the aircraft switches and avionics in a similar manner as they would in the aircraft. Finally, a VR headset replaces the traditional visual system, immersing the pilot into the flight environment .

The Veris offers state-of-the-art simulator components, including:

  • TRU’s new Image Generator, powered by Unreal Engine
  • Electric six degrees-of-freedom motion base
  • Custom modeled airports
  • Varjo VR/MR headset
  • Digital electric control loading system
  • Newly designed Instructor Operating System
  • Qualification test guide generation
  • Remote instructor control unit
  • Lesson plan and debrief systems (optional)

The fidelity and accessibility of the Veris is further demonstrated through its unique dual-use design. Using real avionics and aircraft components, some training can be conducted without a VR headset. This enables avionics training, procedural training and more to be performed without the headset while reserving the immersive virtual world experience to the flight portion of training. This capability captures the ideal balance of real-world and virtual training not found in other training devices.

About TRU Simulation
TRU Simulation + Training Inc., an affiliate of Textron Aviation Inc., is a leading provider of high-fidelity training devices and full-motion simulators for the aviation industry. With a strong commitment to excellence and innovation, TRU Simulation has been at the forefront of flight simulation technology for over a decade. Our customized simulator solutions empower pilots to navigate the skies confidently, while our state-of-the-art technology ensures safe and realistic training experiences.
