Training Aircraft Manufacturer Elixir Aircraft Earns USA’s FAA Part 23 Certification

USA – Elixir Aircraft was certified U.S. FAA Part 23 on July 22, 2025. This certification is granted by the Federal Aviation Administration on the second day of the EAA AirVenture in Oshkosh, where Elixir Aircraft is presenting its 4th-generation aircraft for flight schools for the 4th year running. With over 300 pre-orders and letters of intent in the United States, FAA certification will enable the Elixir to be marketed there.

Certified CS-23 in 2020 by the EASA (European Aviation Safety Agency), Elixir Aircraft has already convinced renowned European schools such as Airbus Flight Academy, Leading Edge Aviation, Egnatia Aviation and most recently ENAC. 40 examples of the Elixir, a 4th-generation aircraft designed with Carbon OneShot technology to reduce fuel consumption and maintenance, are flying in Europe. 60 examples are on order for the European market.

After a fruitful collaboration with the FAA and EASA teams, Elixir Aircraft successfully met all American requirements, including a flight test visit to La Rochelle in May 2025. FAA Part 23 certification will confirm the American market’s interest in a modern, efficient aircraft.

With 8,000 professional pilots trained in the USA every year, the American market is the world’s leading training ground for pilots. Over 600,000 pilots will need to be trained worldwide over the next 20 years, most of them in the USA.

American industrialization and marketing

This marks the start of Elixir Aircraft’s American adventure. The first deliveries will be reserved for schools that have signed pre-orders and letters of intent. Cirrus Aviation, a school based in Sarasota, Florida, has signed 12 pre-orders and letters of intent. Sierra Charlie Aviation, based in Scottsdale, Arizona, is expecting 100 aircraft. Recruitment, sales, customer support, spare parts and training are the next steps for Elixir Aircraft in Sarasota, Florida.

Arthur Léopold-Léger, President and co-founder of Elixir Aircraft, commented: “In our ambition to become a key manufacturer in general aviation, FAA certification is a crucial step. It gives Elixir Aircraft access to the world’s largest market. We thank the teams at the FAA, EASA and of course Elixir Aircraft for their involvement in this major step in the company’s development.”

About Elixir Aircraft
Elixir Aircraft is a French aircraft manufacturer founded in 2015 to meet the challenges of global light aviation. Based in La Rochelle, it has over 200 employees and is recruiting massively. Elixir Aircraft designed and has been building a 4th-generation two-seater aircraft, certified EASA CS-23 since 2020 and FAA FAR Part-23 since 22th July, 2025. Elixir Aircraft uses technology from the world of competitive sailing, the “Carbon Oneshot” (in one piece), to simplify structures. More simplicity means fewer failures, so greater safety, but also less maintenance, and lower costs ($50/h fuel and maintenance).

There are 35 Elixir aircraft currently in operation, with over 300 of the 4th-generation Elixir aircraft on the order book (firm orders, pre-orders and letters of intent). In June 2023, the French President announced a 13-million euro subsidy for Elixir Aircraft. In early 2024, Elixir Aircraft announced the closing of its development financing for the next 5 years, with a budget of 40 million euros. In June 2025, Elixir Aircraft was chosen by ENAC (École Nationale de l’Aviation Civile) to renew its fleet of VFR aircraft. Elixir Aircraft is preparing to open a new 15,000 m2 facility in La Rochelle and another in Sarasota, Florida.
