Colorado, USA – US flight training provider McAir Aviation hosted Brad Schuster, Northwest Mountain Regional Manager of the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association (AOPA), at its Rocky Mountain Metropolitan Airport (KBJC) campus on October 24, 2026. The visit provided an opportunity to discuss McAir's professional pilot training activities, aviation workforce development and community engagement initiatives.

  • McAir Aviation operates from two Colorado locations, its established Broomfield campus and a second facility at Colorado Air and Space Port in Watkins, which opened in November 2025 with six Cessna 172S training aircraft.
  • During the visit, Schuster met with McAir's Vice President of Flight Operations, Tom Rogers, and its Chief Flight Instructor to discuss the academy's approach to developing future pilots through structured training, workforce development and aviation industry engagement.
  • AOPA supports general aviation through airport advocacy, pilot representation and initiatives addressing access to aviation infrastructure. As Northwest Mountain Regional Manager, Schuster covers seven states, including Colorado, and works with aviation stakeholders on airport access and operational issues.
  • McAir received FAA examining authority for its Instrument Rating program in June 2026, expanding its ability to conduct student evaluations within its FAA Part 141 training operation.
  • AFM previously reported that McAir Aviation opened its second Colorado training campus in November 2025, expanding capacity for its Allegiant Air-partnered Altitude Pilot Pathway. AFM also reported the academy's participation in Colorado Aerospace Day in March 2026, where its parent company, Spartan Education Group, engaged state legislators on pilot training and aviation workforce development.
  • McAir's published training equipment includes Cessna 172S aircraft with conventional and Garmin G1000 avionics, Piper PA-44 Seminole multi-engine trainers, a Redbird MCX simulator and a Frasca TruFlite flight training device.
