Sanford, Florida, United States based L3Harris Commercial Aviation‘s Flight Training base is looking to hire a Flight Training Group Sr. Supervisor. Please see an extract from the job post below.

“Job Description:

This position is directly responsible for the day-to-day operations of flight training groups. The role is accountable the fulfillment of ab-initio flight training programs within set parameters and proactively works to ensure on-time delivery of safe, effective flight training. The Flight Training Group Manager directly oversees flight instructors who primarily teach the flight training courses for that group.

Essential Functions:

  • Maintains the quality of flight training.
  • Maintains the training standards as predicated by both FAA and L3Harris Flight Academy.
  • Ensures that the policies and procedures of the Operations Manual are maintained.
  • Initiates corrective action, where necessary, for observed deviations from FAA regulation or Academy Policy.
  • Reviews student performance with the assigned instructor and implements additional training/tasks to achieve desired learning outcomes.
  • Serves as academic advisor to students within the assigned flight training program.
  • Approves student time off requests in accordance with the Operations Manual policies.
  • Reports weekly to the Student Progress Monitoring Council (SPMC) on student training progress and corrective action taken.
  • Ensures that all Group goals are met (e.g., pass rate, student time-to-train, adhering to program equipment hours, student’s training records completed on time) and if not, makes recommendations to the Manager of Flight Training and/or Chief Flight Instructor for corrective action to be taken.
  • Recommends continuing education topics to Manager of Flight Training and/or Manager of Flight Standards.
  • Ensures the quality and completeness of student training records including review of training history.
  • Maintains the even distribution of student assignments within the group(s).
  • Identifies the need for additional aircraft qualifications within the instructor group based on instructor-to-student ratio.
  • Conducts monthly review and quarterly, formal evaluations of instructor performance.
  • Approves instructor time off requests based on availability and ensures accuracy of timecards for direct reports.
  • Assists Academy leadership in cadet or CFI selection.
  • Forward any problems, including student-training difficulties, to the Manager of Flight Training and/or Chief Flight Instructor for guidance and/or resolution.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications:

  • Associates degree (Bachelor’s degree preferred)
  • 2-4 years of flight training experience as a Certificated Flight Instructor
  • CFI (CFI-I preferred)
  • Minimum 1 year Management/Leadership Experience
  • Flight training experience consisting of at least:
    • 250 hours of Dual given
  • Flight Experience:
    • At least 500 hours Pilot in Command
    • 50 hours actual or simulated instrument conditions
  • Check Qualified or ability to become check qualified

Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Attention to detail
  • Punctuality
  • Team mindset (this team is in constant communication)
  • Critical thinking, deductive reasoning
  • MS office proficient (on a novice, proficient, fluent scale)
  • Computer systems such as MISA, Flight Schedule Pro, Talon ETA, etc.
  • Customer Service background”
