United Kingdom – UK CAA-approved flight training organisation Oxford Airline Training (OAT) has reported its largest single intake of trainees as it begins its autumn 2026 training schedule at London Oxford Airport. The development follows accelerated completions of its first two EXPEDITE Airline Pilot Career Program cohorts and increased training activity across its Airbus A320 and Boeing 737NG APS MCC courses, reflecting growing utilisation of the academy's modular pilot training infrastructure.
- OAT reported a record intake of 14 trainees across its portfolio of 10 UK CAA-approved training courses, marking its largest simultaneous intake since commencing operations.
- The autumn schedule includes five trainees joining EXPEDITE 03, the third cohort of the academy's accelerated modular airline pilot training pathway, alongside two Qualified Military Pilots (QMPs) and OAT's first trainee from Wings for Warriors.
- During the summer 2026 training period, OAT recorded 40 Airline Pilot Standards Multi-Crew Cooperation (APS MCC) graduations across its Airbus A320 and Boeing 737NG training platforms, which the academy described as a record for its operation.
- The first two EXPEDITE cohorts, EXPEDITE 01 and EXPEDITE 02, completed their training ahead of schedule. Their training activities took place alongside 10 qualified military pilots undertaking civilian aviation training.
- The inclusion of a Wings for Warriors trainee introduces another training pathway at OAT. Wings for Warriors is a UK charity supporting wounded, injured and sick military veterans in obtaining commercial pilot qualifications, while OAT's QMP training enables experienced military aviators to pursue civilian licences and ratings.
- AFM previously reported that OAT hosted 12 trainees across concurrent Airbus A320 and Boeing 737NG APS MCC courses in September 2026. The academy also published 12 APS MCC course starts for the first half of 2027, alternating between the two aircraft platforms.
- OAT's EXPEDITE program is structured for completion in 16–18 weeks, subject to weather, and combines 125 hours of aircraft and simulator training. This includes 40 hours of Diamond DA42 flying, 40 hours of DA42 simulator training, 40 hours of APS MCC training on Airbus A320 or Boeing 737NG FTD1 devices, and five hours of Advanced UPRT and aerobatic flying in a Super Decathlon. A further 40 hours of classroom-based instruction is included.
