US’s National Association of Flight Instructors (NAFI) Summit Kicks Off in January 2025

The event was rescheduled from October and will take place January 13-15 in Daytona Beach, Florida.

Portage, Michigan, USA — The National Association of Flight Instructors (NAFI) will present NAFI Summit from January 13-15, 2025, at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Daytona Beach, Florida.

“We look forward to NAFI Summit in Daytona Beach, which starts the evening of January 13 and runs through late afternoon on January 15,” said Paul Preidecker, president of NAFI. “Since October, when hurricanes prompted the tough decision to postpone, our team has been busy organizing for a successful reboot. We appreciate everyone’s willingness to contribute to this effort.”

There are three conference themes: pilot health and well-being; mentorship and peer support; and train the trainer. While the association was not able to completely duplicate the schedule planned for October, the overall program has remained intact and offers valuable content for instructors and aviation education leaders at all levels.

Leading off on January 14 are two keynote speakers, Dr. Susan Northrup, FAA Federal Air Surgeon, and Bruce Landsberg, AOPA Senior Safety Advisor. Two panels follow the keynote addresses. Back by popular demand is a new version of the designated pilot examiner (DPE) panel moderated by NAFI Chair Karen Kalishek. Following that, NAFI board member Dr. Victor Vogel will moderate a panel on pilot health and well-being. This panel will include particular emphasis on the recent Aviation Rulemaking Committee (ARC) on mental health.

On the afternoon of January 14, attendees can select from eight presentations on a variety of subjects important to flight instructors and the training community. NAFI welcomes back John and Martha King as featured dinner speakers that evening. The program offers 16 presentations throughout the final day of the event, January 15.

NAFI Summit content is valuable but, as always, the opportunity to network with fellow NAFI members, friends, and colleagues will be priceless. “Aviation is a community, and we all have things to share and learn from the engagement that events like NAFI Summit enable,” Preidecker concluded.

Attendees will also have the opportunity to visit with the 25 exhibitors who have committed to this event. These companies offer important aviation products and services, and along with NAFI’s generous sponsors, their support makes this event possible.

There is still time to sign up for NAFI Summit. For details on the schedule, speakers, exhibitors, and sponsors, please visit the event website. NAFI invites everyone in the aerospace education community to be part of the success: Sign up today and encourage colleagues to join as well.
