Philippines Based Cebu Pacific Air Launches Cadet Pilot Program with Airworks Aviation – Aim to Train 240-300 Pilots
Cebu Pacific (CEB), the fast growing Philippines based low-cost carrier operating over 80 aircraft, has announced that it is partnering with Philippines based flight training organisation Airworks Aviation for is Cebu Pacific Cadet Pilot Program. The program is currently the only airline in the country offering this program, giving aspiring pilots high-quality training experience, mentorship, and guaranteed employment path with the airline. Over a five-year period, CEB will deploy a total of 240–300 Cadet Pilots to Airworks.
The 96 week program will see aspiring pilots get their Commercial Pilot License with Instrument Rating as well as a type rating on either Airbus A320 or ATR72-600.

“What is Cebu Pacific’s Cadet Pilot Program 2.0?
The Cebu Pacific (CEB) Cadet Pilot Program 2.0 is a 96-week, self-funded program, that recruit candidates to train to become licensed commercial pilots. Cadets that successfully complete basic flight training and acquire airline qualifications will have a guaranteed employment to join the corps of aviators at Cebu Pacific, flying domestic and international routes. Successful applicants will study and train at Airworks Aviation Academy at Mactan International Airport, Lapu-Lapu City, Cebu.
What pilot qualifications and licenses do you acquire after the program?
- Commercial Pilot License with Instrument Rating
- 200 hours flight time experience
- Completed Airline Transport Pilot License Ground School with Multi-engine simulator experience
- Type Rating qualification on either the Airbus 320 or the ATR 72-600 aircraft
Is there an age limit to apply for the program?
There is no age restriction for interested applicants.
How long is the training program?
- Phase 1 “Aviation Foundation Course” – 4 weeks in Pasay Manila
- Phase 2 “Basic Flight Training” – 68 weeks in Lapu-Lapu City, Cebu
- Phase 3 “Airline Integration Training” – 24 weeks Pasay Manila
What can I expect during the aviation foundation course?
The aviation foundation course is a preparatory course that encompasses academic study of aviation basics, tailored exercises to stimulate teamwork, and designed activities towards character development to ensure readiness of the cadets to handle the demands and expectations of the full training program. Candidates will have to pass theory exams to demonstrate competence before entry into the Basic Flight Training Phase.
There are two elements of the course:
1.English language training
The purpose of the course is to expose students to typical types of language and accents for aviation communication, ATC instructions, and correct ICAO pilot read backs. The course will also provide opportunities to practice speaking in roleplaying flights, general English conversation and discussion to help prepare you for the first phase of your flying career at Airworks in Mactan Cebu International Airport, Lapu-Lapu City.
2.Introduction to basic aviation theory in the following subjects:
Aerodynamics
Aircraft General Knowledge
Loading and Performance Fundamentals
Navigation
Meteorology
Flight Rules and Air Law
Aviation Math
Students will be guided through approximately 120 hours of ground training (60 hrs. lecture / 60 hrs. tutorial) and complete 3 assessments papers.
Do I sign a bond with Cebu Air Inc.?
You will need to sign a training agreement which will require you to render at least 10 years of continuous service to Cebu Pacific from your first productive flight. During this 10-year period, an amount representing all expenses incurred by Cebu Pacific for your Airline Integration training will be bonded commensurate to the term period of the agreement.
How many Cadet Pilots will CEB recruit?
Each batch will be composed of 16–20 Cadet Pilots; and 2-3 batches will be deployed to Airworks for training each year, making a total of 48–60 Cadet Pilots yearly. Over a five-year period, CEB will deploy a total of 240–300 Cadet Pilots to Airworks.
Is there financing assistance offered for the Cadet Pilot program?
Cebu Pacific had partnered with Bank of the Philippines Island “BPI” for loan offers exclusive for the Cadet Pilot program. Cadet applicants should successfully pass the selection process. Furthermore, the loan offers of BPI may be availed by the sponsors (parent/ guardian) of the cadet applicant.
What is the total cost of the full 96-weeks program? How is the cost expected to be paid?
Approximately PHP 5,000,000.00 with determined milestones payment program.”
